After a slow start Mart High School rallied to tie Itasca in District 21 A play. Clifton beat Connally 12 to 3 while Itasca beat Mart 6 to 4. In round two Itasca beat Clifton 4 to 0 and Mart beat Connally. Mart then defeated Clifton 5 to 3 and edged Itasca 1 to 0 in a doubleheader, creating a championship tie that will be decided by their next game.

William T Dick Duke 50 of Oklahoma City died April 29 at Lackland Air Base Hospital San Antonio after illness since January. A Clifton native, he served in the US Air Force rising to lieutenant colonel in World War II and later worked as a civilian at Tinker Field. Funeral services were May 4 at Tinker Field Chapel with burial at Fort Sill Lawton.

Santa Fe Passenger Trains Discontinued Through Clifton
Night passenger trains Nos. 5 and 6 were discontinued this week through Clifton. Only the Santa Fe Chiefs remain, boarding limited to McGregor and Cleburne unless official permission is granted.
