Rev J A Kidd resigns as pastor of Clifton Baptist Church effective May 15 1919 to accept a call to Desidemania Baptist Church. He served four and a half years, first part time then full time, building up the Clifton congregation. Parishioners express regret and best wishes for his family and future work.
The Baptist church lists pulpit supply during the pastor's absence. Sunday School at 10 am, Sunbeam Band at 3, Junior and Senior B Y P U at 4 and 7:30, preaching at 8:45. Bible Class Monday 8:45, Prayer Service Wednesday 8:45. All invited.
Methodist Church holds services at 11 a m and 8 30 p m with Sunday School at 10 a m Junior League at 3 p m The TM District Conference takes place at McGregor on May 7 and 8 led by Pastor George F Kornegay.
Austin April 29 The Texas Legislature will be called in special session by the governor next Monday to consider a law allowing discharged soldiers to vote on constitutional amendments due May 24. The governor says a law remitting poll taxes under the public calamity clause will be proposed.

Henry Grady Cameron aged 14 was struck by lightning and killed near the base hospital at Camp Bowie Fort Worth Texas on a drizzly afternoon. His sister Nova 10 survived with minor injuries though she was knocked down and cut by a rock.
Weatherford Texas April 26 Returns from twenty nine boxes of Parker county road bond election show 1780 for bonds and 633 against indicating two thirds majority. final total will be 800000 dollars in bonds with $200000 federal aid anticipated.
While rushing home before a storm, a boy was killed instantly after being struck by lightning near Arlington Heights Public School. A girl survived after thirty minutes of artificial respiration at the base hospital and is expected to recover. Parents are Mr. and Mrs. J F Cameron. Surviving siblings Estelle Lee Nova Minnie Glenn. Funeral services held at the residence with burial at Greenwood Cemetery.
Peter Hanson a former citizen of this community and Cranfills Gap died at his Mexia Texas home last Friday after a brief illness. He was 77 and had lived in Mexia for 47 years, born in Denmark and a veteran of 1864. He wore a Danish distinguished service medal. Body brought to Clifton and buried at St Olaf near Cranfills Gap.
Beginning May 1 1919 the residential lighting rate rises to 15 cents per KWH with a 2.00 minimum charge for 1 kilowatt or more and 1.50 minimum for less than 1 kilowatt. Twenty lights equal 1 kilowatt. Existing flat rate customers will be metered asap and no service will be furnished on a flat rate.

Waco Texas April 28 at noon the city hit its Victory loan quota of 1 125 000 and surpassed it with a total of 1 136 7150 in less than a week of campaigns. Local teams organized the drive and completed the effort within seven days.
President Wilson cables from Paris urging nationwide support for the Victory Liberty Loan. He recalls two years of sacrifice and pledges to redeem the pledge with the new bond issue, calling it the indispensable means to finish the war effort.
