Nurse of the Year named for Tri-County League

Mrs. Willie Mac Dahl of Clifton elected Nurse of the Year by the Tri County League of Licensed Vocational Nurses. She will represent the group at the Texas Vocational Nurses convention in Beaumont June 16 17 and 18. Dahl trained at Goodall-Witcher School of Nursing 1973-74 and is a hall supervisor and charge nurse at Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home. She has two sons Alvin and Laurence. Alvin is president of Crown Building Company in Plano, married to Peggy Baker with daughter Lori Lee. Laurence to receive accounting degree from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville in May. he is married to Martha Luckenbach.

Mrs Whitley Celebrates 100th Birthday at Grace Memorial Church

The Women’s Sunday School Class of Grace Memorial Baptist Church honored Mrs. Sarah Whitley of Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home with a party on her 100th birthday. The group sang and presented gifts as cake and punch were served after the celebration.

Lions Club pancake supper set for Monday

Clifton Lions Club announces a pancake supper on Monday from 5 30 to 7 p m at the Clifton Civic Center to raise funds for projects aiding children and youth. Dr Ernest Erickson leads the club with a large skillet from Dalles and a full cooking and ticketing team coordinating food, seating, and cleanup.

Cubette Relays Back At Clifton High This Saturday

Clifton High School hosts the ninth Cubette Relays at Cub Stadium on April 2 with four divisions. Varsity 11 teams, junior varsity four teams, eighth grade 10 teams, and seventh grade six teams. Grass fires reported near Clifton on two routes

The Clifton Volunteer Fire Department responded to two grass fires Thursday morning. The first burned east of Womack on Farm Road 219. The second sparked near the railroad tracks east of Clifton Cattle Company on State Highway 6.
