Fair directors plan new Exhibits Building for Central Texas Fair
Central Texas Fair Association leaders discussed an iron clad Exhibits Building on a cement slab to replace the Little Alamo built in 1937. They weighed 40 by 70 foot outer shells and interior stages with options for metal walls, a kitchen and restrooms while preserving the Little Alamo for a future use. The board reviewed site choices, flooding risks, and bids from three firms, and pledged gifts would fund a new structure. The Doughboys Burrus Mills and Chamber officials prepared ceremonies and entertainment for a 1987 renewal plan with Floyd Tillman and The Light Crust Doughboys providing music.

Grass and brush fires visit Clifton area this week
The Clifton Volunteer Fire Department responded to three grass fires and two brush or car fires over the past week. Grass fires occurred March 12 on Mary Street and Avenue I and at a roadside park near South Highway 6 by the railroad tracks, with additional incidents Friday and Saturday. A brush fire erupted March 15 at the city dump, and a car fire in the 700 block of North Highway 6 also occurred March 15.

Longevity Gains Reported for Bosque County Residents
Special to the Record notes rising life expectancy nationwide and locally. National Center for Health Statistics cites birth life expectancy at 72.4 years with 68.5 for boys and 76.4 for girls. In Bosque County 24.1 percent, about 2,956 people, are over 65, with many expected to live beyond retirement.
