Isenhower Wins Clifton Mayor With Write-In Votes
Charles Isenhower elected Clifton mayor on Saturday after polling 319 write-in votes to defeat incumbent Jim B Smith who earned 252 votes of 599 cast. John E. Rose and Joseph E. Healey won two year terms for city council unopposed. Aldermen Donald A. Gloff and Will Krueger Sr. did not seek re-election.

In Clifton area elections Tom Parks and Mrs. Donald A. Gloff were returned to two year terms on the CISD Board. CISD results show Parks 494 votes and Gloff 506 with rivals Dorsey 226 and Hill 134. City totals add Parks 475 and Gloff 462 with Dorsey 110 and Hill 129. Write ins include Kert Appleby and Midge Hammock. Mayor write in votes followed a split race after incumbent Smith faced no filed opponent. Absentee ballots totaled 24 of 599.

Clifton City Council canvasses votes after election
The Clifton City Council reviewed Saturday’s municipal election results at a Monday noon meeting in City Hall and accepted the tally. Incoming Mayor Charles Isenhower and new Aldermen Healey and Rose will be sworn in, with discussion expected on Elden C. Hunsberger’s proposal to run the municipal airport.

Nancy McClure Named County Auditor for Two Years
Nancy McClure was reappointed county auditor for two years by County Judge Charles K Ward Jr at the Commissioners Court meeting in Meridian. The court also granted the judge and auditor authority for emergency expenditures and approved a $425 April service fee to the Texas Cooperative Trapping Association. Bosyhe County Bank designated as county funds depository, and the Texas Association of Counties will provide workers compensation insurance at $706 monthly.

New district judge welcomed to county in Bosque region
Judge Andrew Campbell was welcomed as the new district judge for the Bosque Comanche and Hamilton Counties in Meridian.
