Porter of Dawson High School starred in the Cliffon Cut Relays with two sprint records among 260 athletes from 31 high schools. He tied the 100 yd dash mark in prelims and lowered the 220 yd dash record to 22.2 seconds while Mart High placed high in multiple events. The meet featured a large crowd and a strong field despite threatening weather.
Bosque County residents were reminded by County Tax Assessor-Collector Earl Behringer that the final day to purchase new car and truck tags is Friday March 31, with Texas law requiring 1967 plates on vehicles by April 1. Behringer noted many residents would line up Friday to register their vehicles.
Clifton Lions Club members nominated a full slate of officers at their noon City Hall meeting on Tuesday. The nominating committee was led by Dr. W. F. Key Jr. with Gerald Lormrude and Kent Appleby.
The Clifton airport dedication will feature the White Baron chutists with a jet fighter fly over and static aircraft display under possibility. Local JayCees and JayCee-Ettes will manage parking, refreshments, and courtesy cars while officials from Clifton and state leaders attend. The event starts at 2 p.m. four miles from Clifton on the Old Meridian highway.

Clifton Golf Club urges golfers to attend a 7 p.m. meeting at Clifton City Hall on Friday March 31 to decide plans for the Bosque River course. If turnout is low the club may hand the course back to the city, according to club president Kenneth Nelson.
The Record reports J. B. Darden Jr has not confirmed plans to jump from a plane after last week’s statement. He added that any helper attempting the jump should wear a parachute.
Forty entries already count toward the 15th Lake Whitney Beauty Pageants set for April 7 and 8 in Clifton as sponsors plan to accept five more swimsuits and fill junior and senior divisions. Current contestants include Lana Reagan 17 Lake Whitney and Judy Atkinson 17 Itasca, among others from Hillsboro Morgan Clifton Meridian.
Qualified Clifton and Bosque County voters head to polls for school trustee and city elections. Clifton ISD voters choose two of three candidates C H Hoel Douglas Railsback Calvert Helms while county trustees see J L Standefer Jr challenging James Gibbs. Clifton mayoral race features Charlies Isenhower and Oris Pierson with four council hopefuls. Absentee voting ends March 31 for city race. votes cast 8 am to 7 pm at City Hall.
Bosque County District Clerk Josie M. Hardwick announced grand and petit jurors drawn for the April term of Judge Truman E. Roberts 52nd Judicial District Court. The list includes jurors from Clifton Meridian Valley Mills Morgan and Mosheim withNamed alternates and others.
