Local biologist Joe Stevens wowed Bosque County crowd with long oyster fueled talk
Joe Stevens of the Texas Game and Fish Commission, a Meridian Baptist preacher, supposedly set a local talking record at the Bosque County Sportsman Club meeting last Thursday night. After feasting on fried oysters, he delivered a 30 to 40 minute speech, while attendees eclipsed similar hunger without dozing. Edwin Olsen announced Clifton's Municipal Airport opening on April 1, noting its location near the Meridian Road.

Drawing Winners Revealed Clifton Spring Open four day run
The Clifton Spring Open promotion ended Saturday with 46 gifts and gift certificates awarded by Clifton stores. The top prize was a portable TV won by Mrs. E. C. Ringness of 1015 Hackberry Clifton. Lt Gov Preston Smith will dedicate Clifton's new municipal airport on Saturday April 1 with Mayor Charles Isenhower and airport opening chairman W L Spieler announcing the plans. The program starts 2 p.m. with Lt Gov Smith not arriving until 3 30 p.m due to an earlier engagement. Texas pilots are invited for the Clifton event with the JayCees guiding and arranging transport to and from town. The airport features a 2400 foot hard surfaced runway a new steel hangar for four light planes and a pilots lounge plans to extend the runway 400 feet. Nellie Aces Number Nine at Lake Waco Golf Course
Kenneth Nelson of Clifton ace nine on the ninth hole with a nine iron at Lake Waco Golf Course on Saturday. He shared the rare feat with George Townsend of Waco who made a seven iron ace on the sixth hole while Nelson played with Dr. Joe Little, Jean Pierson, and Oren Canuteson, all of Clifton.

Bosque Club Opposes Gun Law at Bosque County Meet
