Mrs Margaret Jane Johnson McCanless aged 94 died Thursday March 13 1847 at the home of her grandson Pred Lathan in Clifton Born in Marion Alabama in 1852 she married Andrew Jackson McCuns in 1871 and left seven children two sons and five daughters all but one daughter Blanche Whitley are deceased Survived by nineteen grandchildren Funeral at Turnersville Methodist Church March 14 at 4 pm with interment in Warnerville Cemetery.

Slaughter cattle and yearlings sold well with calves and stocker steers bringing near or above 18 to 20 dollars, cows and calves between 10 and 15 dollars, while grain futures climbed amid improving conditions and price gains across wheat oats and corn markets.
Employees and families of the Sommunity Public Service Company Central Division held their first quarterly meeting of 1947 at the Roosevelt Hotel in Waco on March 18. Morning and afternoon sessions discussed matters of vital interest to the company and its customers. Clint Hennig of Clifton led the program as Group Chairman Central Division. Guests included RL Bayen president of the company and several heads from the Fort Worth General Office and James departments from Cameron McGregor Valley Gatesville Hamilton Mico Mayhill and other communities.

Bennie Swenson, longtime Farmers State Bank employee in Clifton, will become cashier at the Meridian bank, effective April. Clifton residents regret the move yet celebrate Swenson’s promotion in responsibility as Charlie W. Fuqua transfers to lead the Meridian bank in Walnut Springs. The Swensons plan to relocate to Meridian and continue home and property arrangements in Clifton.
In Mare 12 meeting at county seat officials from the Warm Loan Association announced a dividend to farmer members. The payment reflects a strong rate of loan payoff over recent years, with Morrison County leaders noting the continued financial strength of the cooperative and its impact on local agriculture.
Clifton Future Farmers, guided by John B. Lockhart, completed a three-show run at Dallas, Houston, and Fort Worth. They raised $6,511.14 in cash and $9,177.14 in sales, with 2 calves winning $8683 and overall prizes totaling $651. Weather in Fort Worth was poor and hog prices lagged.
