Martin Christofferson was laid to rest Saturday after funeral services at the Lutheran Church. The service was conducted by Rev. Geriad. his older brother Andrew, celebrating his ninetieth birthday, attended. Christofferson, born in Norway, died after a brief illness and was laid to rest as family mourned his loss.

Hyde Former Clifton Citizen Dies After Long Illness
C F Hyde, longtime Clifton resident, died Thursday morning at his daughter’s home three miles north of Hillsboro. Funeral services were held at Moe Mareball in Hillsboro with burial in Hickory Cemetery. Hyde was born January 6 in Hubineen County Tennessee and later moved from Clifton to be near family.

WPA School Lunch Garden Project In Bosque County
WPA plans a county wide school lunch garden program in Bosque County using WPA labor to plant tend and harvest food for canning next summer. The effort includes a county or zone garden of 10 acres or more with a canning center and supervised WPA support for planting cultivating and distributing foods to schools. A lecture by former RAF pilot Iv. Lee Sullivan will be held at Meridian Grammar School Auditorium on March 27 to promote participation and awareness.

County Youth Eligible for Bastrop NYA Center
Charles G. Caldwell, director for the National Youth Administration in the Waco area, announced that young men ages 18 to 24 who are unemployed and single may apply for work at the Bastrop NYA resident center. Applicants meet through NYA counselor W. My Marman Jr in Meridian district court. Youths will work four hours daily in radio or production woodwork plus general maintenance and shop and mill tasks.

Improvement Work On Highway 22 Is Started
A WPA project for State Highway No 22 in Resonomiser basin begins March 17 1941 under John C Suey WPA Director of Operations. It will run about six months with an average 48 workers monthly and total payroll near 1800 dollars monthly. Total expenditure 67070 dollars. Texas State Highway Department contributes 43983 and WPA 13109. Work includes widening timber bridges constructing flexible base with double asphalt surfacing along 3.6 miles from Meridian to Crawfills Gap.
