Clifton Jaycees and Lake Whitney Association invite all area towns to send reps to the 15th annual Lake Whitney Beauty Pageant April 7 and 8 at Clifton Bettis Auditorium. singles born before March 1, 1950 compete in the main event, with juniors April 7. Contestants wear conservative swimwear and are judged on face, figure, charm, poise and personality. Sponsorships and a $20 fee defray suit costs, with DeWeese Designs providing the one piece suit. Entries close March 25. last year had 55 entrants and this year aims for a large field from Fort Worth, Dallas, and Waco.

CHS Bands Golden Run At UIL Solo and Ensemble

Clifton High School bands under Glen Judah earned 10 first division medals at the UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest in Belton on March 4. Earlier on February 24 the CHS Stage Band won the Showmanship Trophy at the area stage band festival in Brownwood.

Extended signup deadlines loom for ASCS programs

Final signup dates for Feed Grain Wheat and Cotton programs moved to March 17. Farmers must file participation intentions at the Bosque ASCS office by then. weather changes allow withdrawal. Signup totals include 279 feed grain farms of 883, 87 wheat of 512, and 154 cotton of 429. Other extensions cover cotton acreage release and acreage increase requests to March 17. Mohair referendum in Bosque County passes with 128 votes 101 for and 22 against representing 35 161 goats for and 4 994 goats against. Final peanut acreage release or adjustment deadline is April 4.

Vehicle Inspection Sticker Deadline Nears in Texas

The Texas DPS warns six weeks remain before the April 15 deadline for 1967 vehicle inspection stickers. Col.
