Fire Burns 30 Acres West of Clifton
A woods and grass fire roared across about 30 acres in the hills west of Clifton near Crawfills Gap highway. Clifton fire trucks and dozens of volunteers fought the blaze after 10 a.m with a second alarm at 11 a.m. Gusts of 10 to 15 knots fanned the flames toward town while no houses were reported endangered by 11 a.m. Clifton Constable Warren Prince estimated the area burned at least 30 acres and not fully under control yet.
