Non-stick Cookware Care and Maintenance Tips
Home management expert Lillian Cochran from Texas A&M Extension advises on two non-stick finishes heavy duty and regular. Heavy duty resists scratches while regular requires rubber wooden or plastic utensils. Wash before first use and recondition with oil to maintain non-stick performance. After each use clean in hot sudsy water and remove residue with a plastic pad. Discoloration from improper cleaning reduces effectiveness. Use commercial cleaner if stains appear and recondition with oil. If mineral buildup occurs soak a cloth in lemon juice or vinegar and rewash then recondition.
