Clifton welder James Adams commended for Arctic pipeline work
James Adams of Clifton receives the Pipeliner Welding Award from Alyeska Pipeline Service Company for completing 1,674 acceptable welds on the Trans Alaska Pipeline System from September 15 to November 10, 1975 under Arctic conditions. He plans a nine month Alaska assignment after rest. Adams, born in Clovis, New Mexico, has lived in Clifton four years with wife Shirley.

Freedom Train stops at Clifton on its cross country tour
The Freedom Train visited Clifton last week as part of its 17 000 mile journey to Dallas and Fort Worth. Freight only at Clifton station. passenger service now stops at Mc Gregor and Cleburne. Pullman locomotive No 610 led the tour drawing rail buffs. Viewings continued in Fort Worth at the Federal Center and at the State Fair Grounds through March 4. The display has drawn two million visitors so far with expectations near forty million by trip’s end.

Fire Department Battles Grass Fires and Vehicle Blazes
Clifton Volunteer Fire Department faced multiple grass fires on February 19 near Parks Ranch and Valley Mills aided by Valley Mills volunteers. They also responded to a February 24 car fire and a Thursday grass fire at McCreys in Coyote. A grease-fire at 411 South Ave K was extinguished.

The Meridian county tax office will be open Saturdays 8 a.m. to noon in March to help motor vehicle registrations In addition normal hours 8 to 12 and 1 to 5 will continue. New license stickers must be affixed by April 1 or penalties follow.

Burglary items recovered and accidents reported in Clifton
Police say a black and white tellvision set dishes and silverware missing from a North Ave residence after a late January burglary have been recovered. Two juveniles were released to their parents after questioning. Incidents include three Clifton motor vehicle accidents with light to heavy damage and one public intoxication arrest fined $52.50 by Judge W R Lively. A obscene letter was received by a female juvenile on February 21.
