Gap FFA Members Compete in Houston Livestock Show

Gap FFA Club members enter beef heifers market lambs and breeding sheep in the 1976 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo February 25 to March 7. Junior events occur in week two as 4H and FFA youths vie for top premiums in the nation’s largest junior livestock show. Total premiums exceed 4465 500 with about 20 900 entries in the $18 million facility at Astrodome rodeo performances begin February 27.

Free Immunization Clinic Slated at Clifton City Hall

A free clinic will run March 4 from 10 to 12 at Clifton City Hall offering polio tetanus diphtheria measles whooping cough and rubella vaccines for children two months and older. Texas reports a paralytic polio case last August prompting concerns over low immunization levels nationwide.

Mixed drinks tax nets $311 for Bosque County

Bosque County received a 311.59 check as its share of the mixed drink tax for October through December 1975. Comptroller Bob Bullock said his office mailed 2.7 million in checks to 186 counties and 300 cities, with counties getting 1.4 million and cities 1.3 million.

Cub Booster Club Volleyball Tourney Opens With 37 Teams

Thirty seven teams enter the Cub Booster Club Volleyball Tournament with play starting Monday at 5 30 p m. Men women and mixed divisions are included. Games run 5 30 to 11 on Monday Thursday and Friday nights and 3 30 to 11 on Saturday. Trophy prizes and a concession stand are planned. Proceeds aid remin dering of Cub Stadium track this winter by coaching staff and volunteers.

Police Chief Alvin James said a break at the American Legion building yielded liquor, a small radio, cigarettes, and cigars. Four arrests on liquor charges followed, with additional public intoxication cases. multiple accidents reported with minor damages and fines issued in court.

About 240 Bosque County veterans will receive roughly 21 000 as their share of a 3 768 million GI insurance dividend payout. The acceleration totals about 233 million nationwide, with World War and Korean War veterans eligible while Vietnam era holders are not.
