Public Schools Week runs March 6 to 10 in Clifton with lunch for parents at 40 cents per meal. The city considers a bond issue for a new city hall community center with two proposed sites and a voter referendum set for March 14. Investment banker Curtis Adrian of First Southwest discusses Clifton’s strong finances, tax structure, and how bonds could be serviced without raising taxes, noting Clifton’s low assessment ratio and possible impact on the bond market.
Clifton’s 1972 track season begins March 4 at the Tarleton Relays in Stephenville with 11 teams entered. Finals set for 2:30 p.m. and 240 Division III athletes compete. Clifton listed six lettermen led by Henderson and Wallace as top point contenders.

Smith and Merle Belcher will not seek reelection. City terms expire in April. The council slate includes Doyle Crews, W C Ledbetter, W L Paterson, Bill Painter, and D L Brewer. School board incumbents Ole Bakke James W. Smith and Charles Fehler Jr filed for reelection, joined this week by Dr T C Eggen.
Area residents are invited to attend the Weld Friday March 3 beginning at 1 30 p m at the Coyote United Methodist Church. The theme All Joy Be Yours will guide a program organized by the Coyote Women's Society of Christian Service with participation from various area churches.
