City Race Filing Closes March 1 With Few Candidates
Deadline looms March 1 for candidate filing in City Council and School Board races set for April 1. Three City Council terms expire this April including Mayor Pro Tem Jim B. Smith and councilmen Doyle Crews and Merle Belcher. As of Wednesday only two candidates, Doyle Crews and W. C. Ledbetter, had filed for the three vacancies. Smith and Belcher will not seek reelection. In the School Trustee race, only incumbents Charles Fehler Jr Olee Bakke and James W. Smith have filed to seek reelection.
