Fire destroys dairy foreman's house. firefighter hurt

A fire of unknown origin leveled the L. E. Robinson dairy farm residence of foreman David Stone on a Mosheim farm. Doyle O'Donald of the Clifton Volunteer Fire Department slipped from a truck and was treated for a hurt arm. 6,000 gallons of water were used to prevent spread to nearby buildings.

Clifton Corp buys Wilson Building Materials in Clifton

Clifton Corporation buys Wilson Building Materials Inc from Mrs Essie Wilson Green and Oscar Wilson. The sale took effect Friday and aims for a sizeable plant and production expansion within 18 months. Mrs Green and Mr Wilson stay on in active and consulting roles. Dwight Brewer remains VP and production manager. Wilson’s employs 140 people and specializes in moldings and louvered closet doors.

Gas station theft of service leads to court fine

An adult male was charged with theft of service after leaving a gas station without paying. He appeared before Judge W. R. Lively, paid a fine and reimbursed for the gasoline, then was released. Two juveniles questioned were released to their chief. Police reported the incident occurred at 7:30 p.m. Saturday near T P Drive In Grocery and Laundry.

Clifton Police reports second resignation in a month

Officer Billy Green will leave Clifton Police Department on July 8 to join Stephenville Police Department citing better pay and fringe benefits. Previously Officer Sam Murry resigned June 10 to Fort Stockton, and Officer Terry D. Wolfe from Hico joined June 20. Chief Alvin James notes the current local force includes Chief James and Officers Steve Aston and Wolfe.

Central Texas Fair premium list catalogue issued

Sunset Home Receives 1977 Ford Van as Gift

The Chiton Lutheran Sunset Home in Kansas received a 1977 Ford Econoline van donated by Mrs. Syvenna Rogstad Billue of McPherson. The vehicle features a wheelchair ramp and tinted glass and will transport CLSH residents on tours and outings. Administrator Elmer Luckenbach and the board thanked the donor.

Valley Mills Plans Two Day Fourth of July Festivities

Valley Mills prepares a two day celebration with a tractor pull at Valley Mills Airport on July 3 and a Fourth of July festival at Santa Fe Park on July 4.
