Joe White Installed President of Clifton Lions Club

Joe White was installed as president for 1974 75 at Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home dining room. He succeeds Jim Jones. New officers include David Conrad first vice president Floyd Gray second vice president Wendell Bearden third vice president A F Fricke secretary treasurer J B Darden tail twister H C Smith lion tamer and past president Jones Al Herzog Art Skinner Jim B. Smith. Jones noted club contributions of 2200 to causes including Central Texas Fair Association orthopedic shoes Lions Crippled Children's Hospital Bosque County Development Center Boy Scouts Girl Scouts 12 needy families eyeglasses band uniforms and CARE. PDG Marion Snider spoke and praised the club. next meeting is at City Hall at noon June 25.

Seven Hurt In Road Accidents In Bosque County May

No fatalities but seven people were injured in 13 motor vehicle crashes on rural highways in Bosque County during May. Through May 31 the county had 59 rural accidents, with one death and 30 injuries, per Texas DPS Highway Patrol supervisor Sergeant J. W. Wilson.

Screwworm threat rises as rains spread in Texas

Rains and warmer weather push screwworm cases northward in Texas. Dr. M. E. Meadows Jr. notes 590 May positive cases, 67 percent year to date, warning that more worm occurrences follow recent moisture. He urges producers to inspect wounds, submit samples, treat all wounds, and spray or dip livestock regularly to curb spread.

City Hall Opens Monday as New Center of City Services

City will relocate municipal offices to the new City Hall and Civic Center at 403 West 3rd St starting Monday. Operations move this Thursday and Friday with all facilities, including Nellie Pederson Civic Library, vacating the old City Hall on West 5th St by next week.

Burglary at Clifton Recreation Center Stole Cash and Cigarettes

Proprietor finds rear door unlocked. Approximately 100 dollars in quarters and 60 dollars in cigarettes taken from a foosball machine at the Clifton Recreation Center on South Avenue D. Clifton High School Class of 1934 plans a 40th anniversary reunion on June 29. An open house will be held in the high school library from 8 30 to 10 30 p.m. for all classmates and friends.

Grass Fires Prompt Clifton Volunteers This Week

Firefighters from the Clifton Volunteer Fire Department responded to two grass fires this week. Sunday's blaze occurred on railroad tracks north of town. Monday's fire also involved railroad property behind the Axel Dahl property.

Pelicans Killed in Clifton Storm Reveals Banding Data

U S Bureau of Sports Fisheries and Wildlife and Canadian Wildlife Service released band recovery data for four of five white pelicans killed in a Clifton storm. Birds banded in 1968 Canada and 1971 1972 United States show migration routes and lifespans. Bird banding projects involve over a million birds yearly under north American programs.

Mrs Harris Ends 42 Year Teaching Career
