Scott Stringer of Clifton American Legion Post 322 attends the 34th annual American Legion Boys State on the University of Texas campus in Austin. The program gathers 872 Texas high school boys and two from Mexico, part of a total of 18,351 attendees since 1940. Citizens join Nationalist or Federalist parties and simulations run through precinct, county, and state conventions. A Capitol visit on Tuesday allows elected Boys State Officials to serve in office for a day. Clifton firefighters battled two blazes last week, including a grass-fire at the damp grounds and a fire in the Texas Milling Co tunnel with some wheat lost.

Bosque County Receives $1.95 Million in Federal Aid
Federal grants and revenue sharing totaled $1.951 million for Bosque County in the last fiscal year. Texas received $2.054 billion overall, while the state also shouldered local costs totaling about $2.029 million for Bosque County.
