Cooper to Fill Unexpired Term as Precinct 1 Commissioner
J F Cooper of Route 1 Iredell will fill the unexpired term of Precinct 1 Commissioner following the death of Bryan Bateman. Cooper, who won the runoff for Precinct 1 on June 6, will assume office July 1. He has 19 years as a Precinct 1 employee and has served as foreman under Bateman and Hugh Olson. Cooper and his wife have three sons Royce Kenneth and Donnie.

Several Clifton High School alumni gathered at the W. C. Gloff home Monday June 8 for a visit with Miss Darla Gloff who was with her parents. Attendees included Miss Margaret Cash Mickey Blue Kathy Kruse Miss Janice Collins and Mrs Duane Davis. Gloff spoke of returning to the University of Tennessee Knoxville to finish a Master’s in Home Economics and a September assistantship in UT’s Nursery School Division.

Mrs. Ferguson Dies At 87 In Meridian
Mrs. Minnie Lee Hale Ferguson 87 of Meridian Bosque County died June 14 after a long illness. She was active in local clubs, supported Meridian College youth, and donated medals for scholar ship and music. Surviving nieces include Mrs. Bassel Blanton, Mrs. George Tipton, and Mrs. Robert Westerberg. Funeral was June 15 at Bristol Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Meridian Cemetery.
