Lloyd Wayne Hampe of Clifton has been named a Distinguished Student in veterinary medicine at Texas A&M University. The award, announced by Dean Alvin A. Price, honors students with at least a 3.25 GPA in the past trimester. Hampe is a second year student in the College of Veterinary Medicine and son of Oscar and (Mrs.) Hampe of Clifton Star Route 1.

Local Troop 219 Girl Scouts Celebrate Busy Year
Sixteen members of Troop 219 Clifton completed a year of projects from Halloween parties to Christmas drives and a February field trip to Pure Milk Co. in Waco. They earned an Achievement Award for selling 18 or more cookie boxes and joined Brownies in community events, hikes, and a May Play Day at Camp Kachina.

Scout Day Camp ends with Cook-Out at Meridian State Park
Girls from Clifton Whitney and Meridian Brownie and Girl Scout troops attended Day Camp at Prairie Valley Presbyterian Camp near Whitney Dam from June 15. Nine named participants joined in overnight, cooking activities and field trips including City Hall and Post Office visits.
