Clifton plans a Chamber of Commerce push led by Executive Vice-President Neil Gately to contact businesses and residents, aiming for near full local involvement. Freshman loop shows Clifton Blue Sox leading 4-0-1 with Meridian 3-1-1, greens and reds tied for third. Pee Wee results include Gap Lions over Clifton Greens and Valley Mills over Clifton Red Sox with a protest favoring the Reds. Meridian and Clifton Blues battled to a 10-10 tie in a Monday slugger.
J D Fenn's Red Barron wins junior roping as Clifton's first annual registered quarter horse show draws 178 entries, with Otoe's Wonder named Grand Champion Stallion and multiple other Breeds winners listed from Texas entries across classes and performances.
The Bosque County Farm Bureau will meet on Tuesday night June 23 at Walnut Springs Home. Rodgers will act as host director at the new Lions Club building. This is Dairy Month so dairymen in Bosque County will be honored. Ice cream will be served and ladies are asked to bring pie or cake. Ice cream will be furnished by Pure Milk Co of Waco. Serving begins at 8 p.m. Attend and bring a friend.
Clifton's Goodall-Witcher Hospital Foundation has again received a three year accreditation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals, valid until 1973. Hospital president Helen Aars notes the voluntary program requires full conformity to standards across operations.
Lieutenant Governor Ben Barnes named five senators to an Interim Committee to Study Computer Utilization. The panel, created by Senate Resolution 207, will review government computer use, need, cost, and interagency availability and report to the 62nd Legislature. The Clifton High School class of 1955 plans a reunion on July 4, 1970 in Clifton at Clifton City Hall. A catered meal starts at 7 pm and friends are welcome to visit.
