Clifton World War I Barracks 1887 Auxiliary members Mrs John Bryn Mrs Lewis Hauke and Mrs Ernest Giese attended the District Convention at the Kyle Hotel Temple on June 6. District officers were installed and urged attendance at the State Convention in Abilene July 15 18. A pleasant hour followed in the hotel dining room.

FFA Chapter Elects Its New Officers Plans Fishing Trip

Clifton Chapter of the Future Farmers of America elected new officers for the upcoming school year at the last meeting led by president Keath Hel. Officers include Harry Willeans vice president LL Comred welter y, Larry Mueller reporter Rowe Phillipe sentinel Jary Walsletsen treasurer Leno Menn driver, and Mite Conrad chapteue. The group plans an annual fishing trip and upcoming events at the agriculture building and Walling Rend Port of Lake Whiteey. Members are asked to contact Geral Peacock of Lloyd Hampe to join the trip.

Youth Conference in Crime Seersen Attends Texas Event

On Friday afternoon May 28 a group of Clifton Public School seventh graders visited the Walter Wiede farm to celebrate the confirmation of James Wiede. They enjoyed baseball and football, roasted-wiemers and marshmallows, and shared chips cake and punch. Death of Morrison businessman H. C Hulings learned here

Clifton friends learned with regret of H. C Hulings death at Morrison Colorado. He died April 16 after a battle with illness following tumor surgery on his right lung. He was hospitalized for bronchitis and a blood clot, then phlebitis. He died at breakfast. Mrs Hulings plans to resume work. The couple’s home fits six grandchildren visits. Reverend Petrich to Visit Houston Clinic for Tumor Recurrence

Reverend Albert Petrich pastor of Our Savior's Lutheran Church at Norse will travel to Houston's Mt Anderson Hospital Outpatient Clinic in the Texas Medical Center for a 7:30 a.m. exam Monday June 14. After Sunday services June 23 he and his wife will head to Houston for treatment plans to be decided after the exam. Reverend Henry Walker of Crawford will lead worship at Our Savior's on June 20.

Turners Attend Putnam City Graduation in Oklahoma City

Mrs Kathryn Smith and daughter Martha traveled by bus to Dallas then flew to Oklahoma City on May 28 for the Putnam City High School commencement. Suzanne Turner, Smith's granddaughter, received her diploma. They visited Mr and Mrs Louis Turner Jr and children Suzanne and Bill before returning to Clifton on May 30.

Clifton City Council Agrees to Housing Authority Cooperative

In a Monday night called meeting Clifton City Council voted to enter a cooperative agreement with a Housing Authority to be formed in the city. Mayor Charles Moisenhower said five council members will serve on the Authority with one chair. Plans call for 100 brick homes financed over 40 years via the Federal Public Housing Authority, with rents based on income. those earning over 42,000 yearly would be ineligible. The project would include elderly housing and other units, and aims to attract residents from across Texas facing housing shortages. The council also approved purchasing a dump truck from Greff Meters at 3,287 and a Gallon Meter Grader from Shaw Equipment at 11,000, with holiday garbage routes adjusted to the following day.

Explorer Post To Be Organized Here Next Tuesday

A meeting will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday June 15 in Clifton City Hall dining room to organize a Boy Scout Explorer Post. Clifton National Guard Unit Starts Training at Fort Hood

Forty eight members of Clifton’s First Rifle and Weapons Platoon Company C 3rd Battalion 143rd Infantry Texas Army National Guard departed for summer training at Fort Hood. They will return June 20. Others from Clifton already at Fort Hood include Lt Billy Covey Sgt Billy Harvey and Alton Heier, plus a long list of privates and specialists waiting their turn.

CHS Cubs Fall In Bi-District Then Lose Regional Bid

CHS Cubs won their bidistrict game against Marble Falls 40 but dropped the best two of three regional series against Robinson. Larry Grimland pitched both games for Clifton with Pete Fredenburg catching Tuesday night. Robinson’s Henry Medlin allowed five hits and struck out ten. two unearned runs crossed off Grimland. Clyde McFadden dies in Clifton in June

Clifton friends mourn the death of Clyde C. McFadden 65 of Fort Worth who died Thursday night June 3. Born December 24, 1899 in Clifton, he was a son of Charles R. McFadden and Zella Ragsdale McFedden and was never married. He is survived by three sisters Mrs Clyde Barton Clifton Mrs Jack Kirton Morgan and Mrs Ashley Scott Hillsboro. Funeral services were held June 5 at 3:00 p.m. at Clifton Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Clay L Burns with organist Mrs Ralph W Helm, pallbearers all Clifton, interment in Clifton Cemetery.

Arlington youths linked to Clifton gas station burglary

Two Arlington youths, Gary Klapper and Frank Blackerby, allegedly broke into Otis W Olson's Mobil Service Station in Clifton, taking an Army carbine. A white 1965 Falcon station wagon was sighted.
