Clifton School Garden Making Good Progress

The Clifton School Garden, sponsored by the Clifton Club and Clifton Independent, shows strong progress despite a late start. The ten-acre plot along the Bosque River grows peas, beans, pumpkins, squash, beets, sweet potatoes, tomatoes and collards with plans for fall crops. Visitors are welcome as vegetables will be canned locally for the school cafeteria.

Funeral rites for Mrs. C. E. Lund held at Pottsville church

Mrs. C E Lund 74 a Romedal Norway native died Wednesday at her Tonkeway home near Hamilton after two years illness. Services were at her home then Immanuel Lutheran Church Pottsville led by Rev G C Lent with burial in Pottsville Lutheran Cemetery. Survivors include husband Edwin Lund and three children Clarencé Rea and Oncar Gingabel plus two grandchildren Kenneth and Mary Elisabeth Land.

Former Clifton Citizen Severely Injured in Train Crash

Death Calls Mr Jacob Knudson in Waco area

The Cranfills Gap community reports the death of Mr Jacob Knudson after a late night accident near East Waco. He was about sixty five, survived by two brothers and a sister who resided nearby. He had been confined to bed in recent days but death occurred following injuries from a derailment involving a train mishap.

Enraged Cow Injures Mrs Handley at Farm Home

Mrs Ed Handley suffered serious internal injuries when a cow charged her at the Handley farm south of town. Mr Handley wrestled the animal away with a barbed wire chunk and rushed his wife to a nearby house for medical care as doctors tended her through the day and night amid uncertain prognosis.
