Chemical Limestone Products announces a major expansion at its Clifton quarry near Fort Worth. The new 220-foot kiln rotates at over 2000 degrees, powered by natural gas and auxiliary motor, with 34 employees and plans for a public open house. Hydrated lime and quicklime are produced for use in highway work, metallurgy, pollution control, and industrial processes.
A telegram to Ben Rhodes from Congressman Omar Burleson announces approval for planning of the Meridian-Neils Creek Watershed. Rhodes chairs the Meridian-Neil Creek Watershed Association. A planning party from the Soil Conservation Service in Waco will collect engineering hydrologic and economic data to complete the plan within a few weeks.
Sixteen? 46 graduates finished Clifton High School 1971 with commencement at Bettis Auditorium. Baylor University executive vice president Dr. Herbert H. Reynolds will speak. Valedictorian Betty Low McDougal and salutatorian James Prescher lead a list of 46 seniors.
In the Summer Baseball Opener the Herefords lost 12 to 7 against the Clifton Cards. Pee Wee and Freshmen leagues start June 1 with games Mondays Tuesdays and Thursdays on the new field near the football stadium.
The Bosque County Farm Bureau Farmers Union and County Program Building Committee sponsor a county marketing meeting June 18 at 8 00 p m at Meridian High School An Bar B Cue supper will be served at 7 00 p m Tickets must be bought by June 15 from Farm Bureau or Farmers Union members Dr William E Black Texas A M University Marketing Specialist will speak on marketing in rural America and the coming marketing revolution.
The Central Texas Fair and Quarter Horse Show announces its second annual show on Saturday June 12 at Ciifton with AQHA approval. Proceeds fund facility upgrades at the Central Texas Fair Grounds. Judge Cotton Marriott of Seagoville presides. secretary is Mrs Faye Oglesby of Jonesboro. Cleanup night on June 9 invites volunteers to help prepare grounds.
A Sunday night reception at the Goodall home followed Baccalaureate Services to honor four Clifton High School seniors. Guests included the graduating class, Supt Kent Appleby, Principal Walter Hansen, class sponsors and many local figures. Highlights featured magnolia arrangements and dolls dressed as graduates.
Edwin Conrad was elected president of the Bosque County Unit of the American Cancer Society at a meeting held at Gur Sevier's Lutheran Church in Norse on May 24. The group elected officers and delegates to district and division meetings, with Joe White as vice president and Mrs. Jake Selj as secretary. The next Bosque County unit meeting is set for September 27, 1971, at 7:30 PM at the First Presbyterian Church in Clifton.
Grace Memorial Baptist Church hosts Vacation Bible School from 2 30 to 5 PM daily in June 1971. Children aged 8 to 12 are invited. Commencement Exercises are planned for Sunday June 13 1971 at 6 40 PM.
