Clifton Freshman Blue Sox defeated Riesel 5-4 and Clifton Junior League Cardinals beat Mart 4-2 in first round action at Robinson and Gatesville. Pitcher Randy Kleine led the Blue Sox with 28 batters faced 17 strikeouts and two of the team's five hits. Clifton also added three pickups from district teams to bolster the Blues.
Congressman W. R. Poage will address Turnersville residents at a barbecue supper on Saturday night August 23 discussing the Turnersville Housing Project. Supper served at 7 30 p m. tickets not required though plates are 175 dollars and caterers are Olin and Betty Polk of Cranfills Gap.
Bosque County Farm Bureau invites members and friends to a watermelon cut at 7:30 p.m. and the Queen Contest at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday August 5 at Womack Hall east of Clifton. Five entrants compete for the 1969 Farm Bureau Queen judged by out of county judges. The 1968 Queen Susan Nichols crowns the new queen. The district contest follows in Mexia on August 23.
