Senior boys open regional tournament play in Waco

Clifton supporters raise funds for a three day state tournament trip in Brownwood. Estimated cost about 756 dollars with 678.44 raised so far and the balance promised by the Clifton Baseball Association. Special thanks to Lions Club and American Legion for 100 dollar gifts, plus 25 dollar contributions from the Clifton Bank Dr Key VFW Erwin's Cabinet Shop and Sears. Many Clifton and Laguna Park residents donated 25 cents to 10 dollars.

Bosque County residents received 576 215 dollars in social security payments each month at the start of 1976. Al Bracken, social security manager in Waco, stated 3 671 beneficiaries include 2 168 retired workers 1 294 dependents and 209 disabled individuals. There are 906 under 65 and 2 765 aged 65 plus. Among beneficiaries 1 530 are men 1 875 women and 487 children. All benefits rose 6.4 percent last June.

Repairs planned for Clifton area school roofs
Repairs to storm damaged roofs at Clifton High School and Clifton Elementary School were approved at a Clifton Independent School District board meeting. Emergency work costing about 1300 will cover fifth and sixth grade classrooms at the Elementary School and a bid process for the CHS roof was authorized. The contractor must guarantee two years against leaks. Fence extension near the Lions Club concession stand was approved at about 100 dollars.

Mrs T N Foster announces the Home Economics Show will be held in the Little Alamo during the Central Texas Fair on August 26 to 28. In 1931 eighty two exhibitors displayed over one thousand items. Judging will occur in two sessions morning and evening to pace entries. The Fair Association plans a shaded canopy for registering and new exhibit space. fundraising continues for a concrete slab and steel building estimated at twenty five thousand dollars. Second arrest in auto burglary case tied to Meridian
Police Chief Alvin James says a second arrest on a felony auto burglary charge has been made, with the suspect moved to Lauderdale County jail in Meridian.
