Allen Descendants Hold Clifton Reunion at VFW Post Home

Descendants of the late Mr and Mrs Bluford Allen gathered for a family reunion Sunday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post Home in Clifton. Attendees listed include numerous Allens from Clifton and surrounding towns, with relatives from Oklahoma City Brownfield Lubbock Fort Worth and beyond.

Mrs Stone Dies in Corpus Christi at 50

Mrs D B Stone 50 died of a heart attack Friday morning at her Corpus Christi home. Born Marguerite Colwick near Clifton she grew up in Bosque County and Clifton. Survived by husband Duncan B Stone and adopted son Stephen, four brothers Belford Ennis Lee Calvin Colwick and one sister Dora Omenson.

Miss Willie Helm Ends 46 Year Teaching Career

Clifton native Miss Willie Helm retires after a 46 year teaching run in Texas schools and Brownsville. She began in Clifton, taught second grade there, then in Ditton Hale Center and Siaton, pursued advanced degrees at the University of Texas, Hillsboro Junior College, Sam Houston State Teachers College, and served with the State Department of Education before returning to teaching in 1947 as a second grade instructor in Brownsville Public Schools.

Clifton Church of Christ Builds New Rock Brick Structure

Architect Lee Stuart Jr. designs a Clifton Church of Christ at South Avenue G and West 7th Street. The native rock brick building seats 250 in the auditorium 44 by 60 feet, with seven classrooms and a three-room fellowship area plus a kitchenette. Pastor James Montgomery leads a 115-member congregation.

Lions Club report on Miami Beach convention

Deputy District Governor John Robert Lane told Clifton Lions Club about the Lions International Convention in Miami Beach Florida. He said 43 000 Lions and family members attended including 22 000 Lions and 1 427 Texans and families with attendees from 119 nations. Guests included Reverend Hugh Durham and Lieutenant Douglas Wendt and Bronstad of Denison. Lions president W F Key Jr announced new committees for the coming year focusing on major activities and civic improvement.

Barracks and Auxiliary Set July Meeting at Armory

Clifton World War I Barracks and Auxiliary will hold a monthly meeting at 7:30 PM on Tuesday July 30 in the National Guard Armory. A covered dish supper precedes the session. Delegates from the recent Department Convention in San Antonio will report at the gathering.

Clifton High School announces the homecoming will be held Friday October 18. Clifton will play Alvarado at Cub Stadium, with CHS Junior Class sponsor Mrs. E B Harris noting early notices to classes about reunions to avoid conflicts.

Clifton hospital personals list local patients and travel notes

Mrs. Jack Devaney of Waco has been in Clifton hospital since July 21. Miss Gertrude Brandes and Clyde Tindall of Cranfills Gap also received care in Clifton hospital with various dates. Mrs. C M Brown from Cranfills Gap and Clyde Tindall returned home midweek. Mrs. W Findley of Star Route 1 Clifton had eye surgery in Waco on July 23 and joined Clifton hospital later that day to convalesce. Mace H Fullwood of Turnersville has been a patient since July. Mr and Mrs Phil Gilliam left for Albuquerque to visit daughter Mrs Charles Bennett Jr while Lt Bennett attends Air Force survival school in Nevada. they plan to return August 4.

Clifton Freshmen Green Sox Tie for Second Place

The Clifton freshmen Green Sox finished with six wins and four losses in league play ending last week. Valley Mills also went 6-4, earning second place trophies for both teams. Clifton prepares new water well to ease shortage

Clifton expects to bring a new 942 foot well online by the weekend as heat and drought strain existing supplies. The 36 hour test showed 250 to 315 gallons per minute, with a 40 HP submersible pump planned to yield about 250 gpm and up to 360,000 gallons daily. Present wells deliver 600,000 to 650,000 gallons daily, and the city has restricted use to preserve reservoir capacity for fire protection.

Evans, injured in a yard accident, recuperates at home. Clyde Outlaw family plans a Corpus Christi visit. Lee Ann Hutcheson flew to Houston with relatives after a Dallas trip while in transit to visit kin.

Clifton buyers list farm prices and cattle auction results

Prices for eggs grain and cattle are reported from Clifton. About 800 cattle at Wednesday’s Clifton auction sold steady versus last week with cows 50 to 75 cents lower. steers yearlings and calves range from 22 to 27 dollars. Hogs brought 1875 to 1920 dollars and eggs and grain prices shown.
