Swimming Classes Begin July 24 at Clifton Mermaid Pool
Mermaid Pool owner Erwin Wiederaenders announces the start of swimming lessons on Tuesday July 24 just east of Clifton. Mrs Wiederaenders and daughter Helen will teach morning sessions for eight lessons costing 4.00 including pool admission. Registration at the Mermaid Pool office precedes the start. A greased watermelon scramble is planned for Sunday July 15 at 3 30 PM with the winning team earning the fruit prize.

Carroll L Anderson Dies in Houston at 41
Carroll Lester Anderson of Houston died July 8 at Hermann Hospital after a seven week illness. Graveside services were held July 10 at Clifton Cemetery. He was born July 5, 1921, in Clifton and served in the Navy during World War II. He worked at the Baroid Division of National Lead Co. in Houston and was a member of The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife Jo Powell Anderson, parents Mr. and Mrs. Carl Anderson, brothers Leo and Preston, sister Wilma Holwick, niece Lois Holwick, and nephew Joe Anderson, with many Bosque County relatives attending from out of town.

Mrs Henry Wiese of Route 2 Meridian underwent surgery at Clifton hospital Wednesday this week. Mrs B Johnson of Meridian is still hospitalized after surgery on July 5 at Clifton hospital. Sam Ralph age 15 son of Mr and Mrs T H Ralph underwent surgery at the local hospital on July 6 and remains there Wednesday this week. The Geltemeyer reunion was held in Willie Geltemeyer pasture on Hog Creek last Wednesday. Mrs L J Cannon traveled to Long Beach Mississippi to visit daughter in law and children Sonny Rodney and Danny while Airman Second Class Doyle L Cannon serves in Turkey with the United States Air Force.

Tragic Clifton Child Killed By Car On North Highway 6
George Kenneth Covey aged 3 died after being hit by a car driven by Willie Garner of Walnut Springs on North Highway 6 in Clifton. He died at the hospital shortly after the incident Tuesday afternoon. Funeral services were held Thursday at the Clifton Funeral Home Chapel. He is survived by his parents three brothers three sisters and grandparents. Clifton residents expressed deep sympathy to the family.
