Baseball Queens Crowned Here June 29

On Friday night June 29 Clifton's Baseball and Sports for Youth Association crowned three baseball queens between Peewee and Freshman games at City Park. Peewee Queen Becky Helms, escorted by Jerry Kleine, led the event with runner-up Pamela Fredenburg. Freshman Queen Allyson Prescher, escorted by Pernell Larson, crowned ahead of runners-up Janie Huffman and Linda Mae Wiede. Junior Queen Peggy Aars, escorted by Tommy White, with runner-up Cynthia Harris.

Clifton's National Guard unit Company C 2d Battle Group 143d Infantry arrived at Fort Polk Louisiana for summer encampment through July 15. The 36th Texas Infantry Division camps at Fort Polk with about 9 000 soldiers alongside the 49th Armored. Major General Selden Simpson commands with Brigadier General Ralph Krieger as assistant division commander.

Community Public Holds Annual Employee Picnic in Clifton

The Central Division of Community Public Service Company hosted its annual employee and family picnic at City Park Clifton starting 2:30 PM on Friday June 22 with about 100 attendees. Mrs. Albert Gloff of Luther Hall at Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home suffered a slight stroke on July 1 and has been a Clifton hospital patient since. On Wednesday afternoon observers noted she was showing signs of improvement.

Mrs Lola Brewer and daughter Mrs Irene Westley return home Friday June 29 after a ten day trip to Ogden Utah to visit son Clyde Brewer and family. Prescher to Speak at Hermann Sons School in San Antonio

Walter Prescher of Route 1 Clifton will be among 18 speakers at a two day school of instruction for Hermann Sons membership personnel. The events follow the first annual statewide picnic in San Antonio on July 15 at La Villita assembly building. Tergerson Reunion Held At Gap July 1

A reunion of the descendants of William and Mary Tergerson gathered July 1 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church Cranfills Gap after morning services. Five daughters and 18 grandchildren attended. Local Notables Seek Recovery in Clifton Hospital News

Mrs. John T. Wilson of Mart remains a patient at Clifton hospital since July 3. Mrs. C Hanson has been receiving treatment at the local hospital since June 30. Mrs. Harold Sather of Norse community entered Clifton hospital on July 2 and had surgery July 3. Glenn Ringness visited his son in law and daughter in Georgetown last weekend and toured Cobb Cavern. Mrs. Willie Grantham, formerly of Clifton and now in Waco, is a patient at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco with heart ailment.
