The city awaits a new water well this week as heat lingers and maize harvest begins in the county. Public acceptance of the post office new ZIP code grows with firms updating mail and printings. Housing remains in demand in Clifton while rail strike fears loom and a nationwide settlement is hoped for.
Clifford Blumberg and three of his sons visited Clifton Monday with the John Outlaws and other friends. Several families spent time at Deer Park visiting relatives and enjoying fishing.
Mrs. Doris Smith of Cranfills Gap and Mrs. Thomas C. Atchison of Parmela entered Clifton hospital for medical care on July 9 and July 3 respectively. Other patients include Paul Dudley Pierson, Loyd Parton, and Mrs. HB Hanson. Local residents and visitors such as the Greenwades, Major, the Rittenberrys, the Stewarts, and the Lange family gathered for visits and a reunion in Clifton and nearby towns.
Miss Linda Terrell of DeLeon daughter of Mr and Mrs F L Terrell III is a junior at Southwestern Medical School Dallas and serves as a hospital preceptee at Goodall and Witcher Clinic Hospital Clifton since mid June. She will continue until August. A De Leon High School graduate she earned a BS in chemistry and biology at Hardin Simmons University Abilene and held Alpha Chi membership and appeared in Who's Who. She led Alpha Epsilon Iota at Southwestern Medical School as president and was secretary of her sophomore class.
The Garnerville Home Demonstration Club met Tuesday afternoon June 18 at 2 30 with ten members and Miss Lucille Watson County Home Demonstration Agent in Clifton. Mrs Walter Anz club president presided and the club prayer was shared. Mrs Raymond Lammert reported as secretary treasurer and reports were accepted as read.
The Home Demonstration Association reports on the THDA State Meeting to be held September 18 and 19 at the Granada Hotel in San Antonio. Delegates include Mrs. Tom White and Mrs. Henry Brvwnie with alternates Mrs. E. C. Johle Mrs. Bryan Richards and Mrs. Chris Brynie.
The American Legion Auxiliary will hold its next meeting on Thursday July 18 at 7 30 P M in the Legion Hall at City Park. All members are urged to attend. Mrs W H McCown underwent foot surgery in the local hospital this week and is hoped to recover fully.
Miss Carol Wenzel recovered from tonsillectomy at Goodall and Witcher Clinic Hospital over the weekend. Mrs. John T. Miller and the Miller children Ann Paul and Tommy of Lubbock spent the time with Mrs. Miller’s relatives, the Helms, before departing Monday for Corpus Christi where Ann will attend a two week camp. Mrs. Miller is Ellen Helm, daughter of the late Fielding Helm.
Mr and Mrs Jack Hart and children Kay and Steven of Giddings arrived Monday of last week to visit Mrs Hart's grandparents Mr and Mrs Henry Lammert and other relatives and to vacation at Murt's Lodge on Lake Whitney Betty Albrecht a cousin of Mrs Hart joined them after a two week stay and Mrs Hart's parents Reverend and Mrs Fred Myebroff of Giddings came Wednesday morning to join the group They remained until Wednesday of this week
