Mrs. A G Amundson of Clifton received the VFW Mother of the Year honor at the Texas Department convention in Lubbock on June 2. She and eight sons, all veterans, joined by daughter and husband, reflect active service and community work in Clifton and Trinity Lutheran Church.

Beef Producers' Meeting Planned

A meeting for all beef cattle producers will be held at the District Courtroom in Meridian at 8 o'clock Monday night July 8. Floyd M. Key, Bosque County Agent, says the purpose is to explain the brucellosis program and to decide if Bosque County will join as a Modified Brucellosis Area. Dr James B. Henderson, District Veterinarian of the Texas Animal Health Commission, will attend to explain and answer questions. The Bosque County Animal Health Committee called the meeting and urged attendance to hear all phases of the program.

Rains Cancel Three Ball Games Here

Rains halted activities across county baseball this week with three of six scheduled games wiped out. In the sophomore league the Reds extended wins over Turnersville and Cranfills Gap, while the Klves beat Cranfills Gap. Clifton Red Sox and Green Sox tussles affected by rain. Clifton Red Sox fell to Turnersville in a teenage contest. Schedule shows Clifton hosts Turnersville in Clifton and other matchups through July 11.

Vocal concert by Mrs Polley at Clifton First Methodist

Mrs Coraline Polley of New York City will present a vocal concert at the First Methodist Church in Clifton on Sunday July 14 at 7 30 PM. A similar program given there last August was well received and church members invite the public to attend.

J G Jim Simms 81 years 2 months 13 days of Valley Mills dies at Clifton hospital after illness. Prominent Bosque County civic leader served as postmaster Valley Mills Mosheim district county school trustee mayor and national president of the National League of Postmasters. Survived by wife two daughters sister brother four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral at First Methodist Church Valley Mills with interment in Valley Mills Cemetery.

Clifton Braves Riding 10 Wins in 15 Games

Clifton's Braves, a young men's baseball team, hold a 10-5 record this season. Upcoming games include Crawford on July 5 at 6 00 PM, Culfills Gap on July 7 at 3 00 PM, West on July 13 at 1 00 PM, Hamilton on July 14 at 3 00 PM, and Evant on July 20 at 8 00 PM. Guardsmen Launch Four Day Bivouac At Fort Hood

The 36th Texas Infantry Division unit in Clifton begins a four day field training at North Fort Hood. Commanding officer 1st Lieutenant Hubert G Greiner leads about 1000 National Guardsmen through live fire rifle tactics and maintenance training as part of summer camp. Federal units from 65 Texas cities will return home on July 14.

Martin Carlson 93 Dies at Local Hospital

Martin Carlson aged 93, resident of the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home, died at 1 30 o clock Thursday morning in the local hospital. He formerly lived between Norse and Crawfills Gap. Funeral services were planned for Friday at the Sunset Home Chapel, with additional services at St Olaf Rock Church Cemetery between Clifton and Crawfills Gap. Interment followed in the same cemetery.

Dr. W. W. Blankenship Dies in Mosheim

Prominent Bosque County physician Dr. W. W. Blankenship, 77, died at his Mosheim home July 2 after years of illness. A World War I medical officer, he practiced in Mosheim for 54 years and was active in the Masons and Mosheim Baptist Church. Survived by wife Rosalee, daughter Christine, two brothers, two sisters, one granddaughter, and three great grandchildren. Funeral July 3 at Scott Funeral Home Chapel Gatesville, with interment in Restland Cemetery.

Lady Bugs Hit Bosque County Farms For Pest Control

More than three million Lady Bugs were purchased by Bosque County farmers last week and shipped to Clifton. Buyers report prices around five dollars per gallon with freight about one thirty per gallon as farmers release bugs across cotton patches to combat pests.

Injured in Car Crash Mrs Nan Scott Hospized in Lubbock

Mrs Nan Scott of Lubbock mother of Mrs Kent Appleby of this city sustained serious injuries in a Tuesday morning car crash in Lubbock. She has a broken leg and shoulder plus two broken vertebrae and is now at Methodist Hospital. The Applebys plan to travel to Lubbock on Friday to be with her.

Mrs. Anderson's Colorado trip with relatives recounted

Mrs. Alex Anderson returns from a Colorado vacation joined by her sister and brother in law Mr. and Mrs H B Hensler and Debra Hensler of Baytown. They toured Denver and Colorado Springs then Pike's Peak. An extended stay occurred in McLean with relatives. Debra Hensler and Christy Sue Hanson visit Cranfills Gap relatives. Sunset Home Resident Dies at Pottsville

Mrs Ter man Zseiwiehe aged 85 died Saturday June 29 at Memorial Mall Sunset Home Pottsville. Funeral services were held Monday July 1 at 10 00 o clock in the Tals Funeral Home Hamilton and at Tremannel Lutheran Church Pottsville with Rev Raymond Reichoff and Rev Knippa officiating. Burial followed Immanuel Lutheran Church Pottsville. She was born April 22 1878 in Bell County, married Herman Zschiesche in 1898 and had 12 children. She is survived by four sons and five daughters, 30 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Burial in Pottsville. Check your Record date.

Emil Pederson aged 86 of Big Spring died July 2 after living with R M Wheeler family for 22 years.
