County budget climbs to 1976-77 figure in Meridian

The Meridian County Commissioners Court adopted a 1976-77 budget of 625 807 dollars, excluding 89 000 dollars in federal revenue sharing. The rise over 1975-76’s 510 358 dollars stems from increased real estate, personal property, and motor vehicle tax bases. Boy Drowns In Coon Creek Near Clifton

A 12 year old Austin boy Philip Wayne Wilkerson drowned Sunday afternoon in Coon Creek after being swept downstream while on inner tubes with his father. The body was found Tuesday near the mouth of the creek after an intensive multi agency search. The Wilkerson family recently moved from California to Austin. Memorial gifts may be sent to the West Shore Volunteer Fire Department and to California Baptist College Riverside music department.
