Clifton residents Major Chas Isenhower Helen Aars and Robert Baldridge Jr visited North Fort Hood for the Second Battle Group 143rd Infantry press day and barbecue. They toured the camp, viewed a night problem demonstration on a hill assault, and observed camouflage, rations, and a field bivouac before returning home after the event.

Otto Muhlhause of Mosheim underwent surgery in Clifton hospital Thursday of last week and remains a patient there. Friends express hope for a full and speedy recovery. Harold Ray Gloff, son of Mr and Mrs W O Gloff, returned Friday from a week in Austin with relatives Harrell Doggett. He then joined his brother Wayne Gloff visiting friends in Corpus Christi.

July 4 Holiday Sees Record U S Deaths Yet Bosque County Escapes
A national peak of 625 plus traffic boating and drowning deaths occurred over the July 4 period. In Bosque County no fatalities were reported. A Fort Worth car collided with a parked vehicle in Clifton injuring a passenger who was treated and released. Lake Whitney enjoyed a record day with full lodging, clear weather and high fishing boat activity.

Better Lighting Planned for Clifton Streets and Highways
Clifton officials announce mercury street lights will be installed by Community Public Service Co along Highway 6 from Hackberry to West 15th Street and east west from Avenue H, plus blocks on Avenue D and E. The project, funded by the company, will raise city lighting costs about 65 dollars monthly. A new 30 year electric franchise to Community Public Service Co. extends to 1990.

Clifton Greens Peewee team claimed the undisputed league title after final schedule games. Clifton Green Sox led the Peewee League with a 13.42 to 1.5 record, while Clifton Black Sox and McGregor Red Sox trailed in standings as All Star selections were named. The Peewee All Star game is set in McGregor Friday July 8 at 7 30 P M with ten players named from Clifton teams and McGregor officials to umpire.
