A woman west of town died last week and was buried in Meridian cemetery Friday. Her family includes a husband, several children, an aged father and brothers. Ollie Wooly, son in France, died December 3 and later sent a hospital update saying he was well, prompting joy upon receipt. Elvis Ward, John Harvey and Carl Josey, recently in France, returned home Saturday night. Darren Powell, also in France, came home Monday morning. Various visits and relocations noted among local residents and relatives.

Pershing Victory Service at Methodist Church
February 6 at 7 30 p m in the Methodist church will host a Pershing Victory Service honoring General Pershing and the battles in France. The Anti Saloon League of Texas chairs the event with speaker Joseph G Camp of Atlanta Georgia. Camp, famed Chautauqua Lyceum orator, recently wrapped a Texas Chautauqua tour. He is billed as a Christian gentleman and polished Southern statesman sometimes called the Bob Taylor of Georgia. The address is free to all and organizers urge a crowded house.

Butter and egg prices slide further in Chicago market
Prices for butter fell three cents a pound to 46 to 51 cents on the Chicago wholesale market with a 19 cent drop since January 13, and eggs declined two to three cents a dozen from 53 to 54 cents. Meat prices also slipped with pork down from 30 to 22 cents a pound and veal and lamb each four cents lower. Retailers faced possible federal action for overcharging.
