Central Texas hosts a five night lectureship titled The Divine Pattern from Monday January 25 through Friday January 29. Prominent ministers including John P Stevens of Ali fom w/t peak and James Lefan of Western Hills Church will present series on church life education and Christian pattern. Public invited to attend any or all sessions at 7:00 PM.
Captain Olen Whe in the active reserves receives senior wings. The officer from Keate Clifton area, son of Casper Gleen, with 1500 hours flying time and current instrument rating, prepares to move to Tuncerposs Alabama to resume duties.
Barrocks auxiliary and the Ton World War Barracks L887 will hold their regular meeting at the American Legion CHATDOWN in the local City Park. Members are urged to attend as new officers for the coming year will be elected and a future meeting place will be discussed.
About 600 cattle offered at Wednesday auction in Clifton with prices from 8 to 22.50 for steers and yearlings. Good to choice butcher calves bring 17 to 20, cows and calves 90 to 160, hog tops 14.50 to 16.80. eggs grain prices listed for milk and feed.
Clifton city officials approved a mandatory purchase order requirement for city purchases and adopted an ordinance to install 80 field signs citywide. A 15 mph school zone on West 15th Street was set to take effect 30 minutes before and after school. Water sewer tap fees rise to 35 dollars from 3250. Mayor called a city election for two council seats and mayor, with candidates to file by March 6.
In a special meeting Saturday night January 14 the Zion United Church of Christ at Womack organized the church council for the coming year. Elected to serve were the following officers for 1065.
E R Harris is appointed Clifton chair for the 1965 March of Dimes campaign led by Frank Kirkpatrick of Meridian. A January 24 to 30 March of Dimes Week will urge Clifton residents to donate via containers at cafes drug stores and schools with potential house to house canvassing by the National Guard if approved.
Mr and Mrs Larry Vo Anderson announce the birth of their daughter Winifred Jean on January 16 1985 at the Chiften Hospital. The baby weighed 6 pounds 4 ounces at birth.
Bank officials reported a $16,350 theft from Iredell State Bank on Wednesday morning. Two suspects, Johnny Lee HL and William Male Phillipa, fled along a highway, tossed money along the road, and were captured four miles from Bone near Cleburne after a high speed chase. Police recovered most of the money. $800 remained missing by afternoon. Both men were jailed in Meridian as District Attorney Byron McClellan prepared charges.
Elmo Perc y Harvey came home Tuesday from Hillcrest Hospital in Waco after arm surgery performed Thursday of last week. His arm did not heal properly after serious injuries from a June automobile accident. Friends wish him a speedy recovery.
Clifton community hosts Arbor Day planting by Clifton Garden Club with five redbud trees near Clifton Cemetery. District Governor of Texas Lions Lane will speak at Clifton City Hall January 8, outlining Lions District 2X3 growth and activities. Reverend Burns delivers Arbor Day dedication with Mayor Stevens planting the first tree.
Cub Scout Pack 234 will hold its next regular meeting at 7.15 oclock Monday night January 25 at the VFW Post Home. Cub master Joe Brown notes all scouts should attend and visitors are welcome.
Mr and Mrs James Lane of Bovina Center New York marked their golden wedding with a family party at Sidney Center their son Joseph Lane hosted. Mrs James Lane Jr and Mrs Harry Fancher assisted with a buffet luncheon and a three tier wedding cake. The couple married in Miles City Montana on December 13 decades ago.
Harry R. Cash and Oscar Wilson of Clifton are among 455 seniors applying for bachelor’s degrees at North Texas State University in Denton. Winter commencement is scheduled for 2 00 Sunday afternoon January 31 in the Main Auditorium. Cash seeks a Bachelor of Business Administration in administrative management. Wilson pursues the same degree.
The Clifton Record reports Bosque County averaged 34.85 inches in 1964 from six stations, well above the Texas Almanac 33.20 inch county average. Notable totals ranged from 30.40 to 41.90 inches, with 41.96 inches the highest reported and 1.00 to 6.80 inches the monthly extremes.
Basque County Tax Assessor-Collector Earl R. Behringer reports only 822 poll tax payments received by Wednesday with Sunday January 31 deadline. Taxes may be paid at offices in Meridian Mills or banks in Crawfits Gap and Behringer will be available at home until midnight January 31. License plates go on sale February 1.
Clifton High School teams remain undefeated in district play after wins over Whitney and Itasca. In Whitney action the boys dominated 85-34 led by Fredenburg 25 and Allen 10 while the girls won 45-38 with Jenson 25 and Outlaw 12. The boys also beat Whitney B 48-22. Dietiker 10 and Bridger 9 led. Tuesday Clifton defeated Itasca 48-30 as Fredenburg tallied 29 and Allen 11. The girls won 51-42 with Christie 25 and Randy 14, while the girls B lost 35-34 to Itasca.
Bosque County savings bond sales for January through November 1964 totaled $157 452 with $11 493 bought in November. Statewide eleven month sales reached $135 945 497, about 90.6 percent of the $159 goal. Chairman Bill Bertelson urges regular monthly purchases of 37 50 or 50.00 to build savings.
