Reverend Garner Dies In Clifton After Long Illness
Reverend H. Garner aged 73 of Paris died at 5 23 o'clock Saturday afternoon January 14 in Clifton hospital after a long illness beginning December 5. Funeral services were held at 2 00 o'clock Monday at the Pry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel in Paris with interment in a Paris cemetery. Attending the services January 18 in Paris were Mr and Mrs Ben Trotter of this city.

Mrs Hoels father Mr Fletcher aged 1 from McGregor died after five years illness in an Austin hospital on January 22. Survived by two sons Gordon Fletcher of McGregor and Garnett Pietcher of Brenham and two daughters, Mrs Harlan Hoel and Mrs Pietter Kettnerfeger. Services held January 25 at Amaler Funeral Home Chapel in McGregor with burial in McGregor Cemetery.

Fritz Zander Dies After Heart Illness in Local Hospital
Fritz Zander aged 76 died Friday night January 22 at a local hospital after a heart condition. He had prior injuries from ten years earlier and had lived in the Sonset Home before hospitalization. Born August 22 1878 in Bastrop County, he moved to Bosque County in 1901 and was baptized and confirmed Lutheran.

Native Hackberry Trees Fall Victim To Axe This Week
Seven ancient hackberry trees at the First Methodist Church were cut down due to deterioration and danger to visitors. Pastor Rev. Homer F Pumphrey said five Arizona ash trees were planted as replacements. Logs were given to local residents who could haul them away.

Walking blood bank planned for civil defense here
Dr. Donald A. Gloff of Goodall and Witcher Clinic Hospital announced plans to establish a walking blood bank at the local hospital for civil defense emergencies. Clifton High School FHA members hosted an "A Country Fair" party for the FFA at 7:00 PM in the high school cafeteria on Friday January 22. Decorations included red and blue streamers and booths such as bingo bean bag throw and a kissing booth. FHA President Susan Witcher presented awards to Leo Young and advisor Mrs. M B Jamison.
