Clifton High Stage Band Earns 3rd in Regional Contest

Clifton High School Stage Band took third place among eight Class AA bands at Tarleton State College in Stephenville on Saturday January 16. Jacksboro and Bridgeport bands won first and second. Other class winners named. Brownwood hosts two day festival February 26 and 27. Band members include Lazane Smith Karen Garf Janie Conrad and Bettye Lou McDougal with saxes and lead players.

Students Call Lions and Adults to Aid Drug Education

Clifton High School students Lazane Smith Michael Reed and Laurence Dani addressed the Lions Club to urge community help in drug education and alerting youth to the problem. Superintendent Appleby noted their recent seminars at McLennan Junior College and Baylor University and that the CHS speakers would join a forthcoming local school program on drug abuse.

Lions Camp for Crippled Children Invites Juniors in June

The Texas Lions Camp for Crippled Children in Kertville opens its first two week session Sunday June 6 1971. Five sessions run summer long for ages seven through sixteen. The camp is free for eligible blind deaf mute or crippled children with transportation provided by local Lions. Contact Dr D A Glost of the Chilton Lions Club at business phone 1175 8621 for details. Volunteers Thanked for Yule Lighting Help

Rudy Johnson, chairman of the Christmas decorations committee, thanks volunteers who helped take down the decorations after Christmas. He notes a “fine punch of gentlemen” assisted last Sunday and that the takedown took about one and a half hours to store for next season.
