Couple From Clifton Wed In Elegant Presbyterian Ceremony

Miss Valerie Shaw Goodall and William Pratt Mooney married January 13 at First Presbyterian Church Clifton. The couple met in the University of Colorado musical South Pacific and Guys and Dolls productions. Guests and wedding party included relatives from Waco Gatesville Odessa and New York City. The bride graduates Baylor University and University of Colorado, while the groom studies theater in New York City and will tour Milwaukee and New York post ceremony.

Mrs. John M. Finstad dies in Clifton Sunset Home

Obituary notes Mrs Ida Josephine Johnson Shirley Finstad died at 3 30 a m Saturday January 13 in Memorial Hall of Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home at age 80 She had endured strokes and a cerebral hemorrhage and had lived at the Sunset Home for over two years The Clifton native married twice first to John M Shirley who died in 1917 and later to John Finstad in 1920 They left five children and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren The family lived in Fort Worth and Clifton throughout the years with Finstad employed in carpentry and at Swift & Company The deceased was a Baptist with strong family ties and crocheting as a hobby The obituary lists surviving husband two sons two daughters a brother sister and extended grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Free Bookmobile Offered to Bosque and Adjacent Counties

The Texas State Library proposes a free Bookmobile demonstration for Bosque Coryell and Hamilton counties. Coryell has approved a demonstration under the Library Service Act with partners sought for expansion. Costs rise to about 14000 yearly if continued, with full financing by participating counties in year three. Civic groups will discuss the project and residents seek more data.

Mrs. Jorgen Johnson Dies at 70 in Clifton

Bosque County mourns Mrs. Jorgen Johnson age seventy of Clifton who died January 12 after a series of strokes. Born November 20, 1891 in Meridian Creek, she was a longtime Lutheran church member and widow of Jorgen A. Johnson. Survived by sons Rudolph and Joedale, daughter Wilhelmina Yocham, siblings Hubbert Olsen Willie Olsen, Thyra Surley, with many relatives and friends in the area.

Fallout Shelter Survey Planned in Texas Counties

The Fort Worth District of the Army Corps of Engineers will oversee Phase I surveys in Bosque Hill Navarro McLennan and other counties including Waco to locate buildings with public shelter potential. Contracts with Wiedemann and Salmond of Waco aim for completion within 90 days with later phases marking suitable shelters and estimating costs. Clifton market prices track cattle sale steady with mixed grain and eggs

Thursday morning prices list Clifton buyers quote eggs at 34c for large A, 25c for medium A and large B, pecans 12c lb, cream 40c lb, oats 70c per bushel, wheat and spring wheat $1.80 bu, mile $1.80 to $1.85 cwt, barley 92c bu, shelled corn $1.25 bu, ear corn $1.10 bu. About 780 cattle were offered at Wednesday’s Clifton sale with prices: good to choice slaughter steers and yearlings $23-$25, medium to good $20-$23, good to choice butcher calves $34-$36, medium to good $22-$29, cows $11-$15, canners and cutters $11-$24, stocker calves midrange.
