City hires Hopgood firm for new municipal building
Price Hopgood and Associates of Bryan will prepare plans and specifications for a $230,000 municipal building. The City Council unanimously awarded the contract at a Tuesday meeting, with the firm to receive a 5 percent fee and the city to supply its own inspectors. The project includes city offices, police station, a three cell jail, the public library, and a community meeting room with an adjacent kitchen. Bids will follow after plans and specifications are completed.

Clifton Receives 1972 Revenue Sharing Funds For City Projects
Clifton officials announced a $27,358 revenue sharing allotment for 1972 to cover garbage truck purchase, paving, health and police protection, with $13,962 for the first half and $13,396 for the second half. State receipts added $13,363.28 from third quarter sales tax. City secretary M R White noted permits last year topped $600,000 in construction, including $204,040 for commercial building and $405,300 for residential work, with $11,000 of the latter for remodeling and $106,721 for a Wilson Building Materials Co structure included in commercial totals.

Driver Discharged After Farm Road Wreck Totalling Car
Larry Don Bridger of 806 South Ave H was the driver of a car that left the highway on Farm Road 219, went over an embankment and struck a large tree, the engine dropping, in an accident reported at 2:15 a.m. Sunday. He was discharged from Goodall-Witcher Hospital Tuesday. Ronald Swenson of 706 South Ave N reported the wreck to Chief Homer Waller.

Former Clifton Record editor Sam D. Logan Jr and his wife Linda announce they have purchased the Madisonville Meteor from W B Crossley. The Logans will assume ownership and management immediately while living in Clifton for several weeks and commuting as toward business details. Madisonville sits about 90 miles north of Houston along Interstate 45. Logan envisions Madisonville as a friendly, progressive town similar to Clifton and says owning a newspaper fulfills a long time dream.

Rev L C Jenson to be Installed as Pastor at Meridian Churches
The Rev Lawrence C Jenson will be installed as pastor at Faith Lutheran Church in Meridian and at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in the Norse Community. He was born Crandall Gap and educated at Cul l in Junior College Luther College and Luther Seminary St Paul. He has served in Canada Montana Minnesota Wisconsin and Iowa. Mrs Jenson, née Camila Reinertsen, is a Clifton St Olaf graduate. They have five children and live with the Jenson family after the Reinertsen parents died in a 1960 auto crash. Installation will be by Rev Martin Jenson of Dallas with a welcome reception at Norse Parish Hall from 2 to 4 p.m. Friends are invited.
