Clifton Chief James Bird and Officer Clarence Beasley handled 697 day and night calls from June 24 to December 30 1963. The six months saw 21 motor vehicle accidents with 4915 in property damage, 17 thefts with eight cleared, one stolen vehicle recovered from Irving, 91 traffic cases filed, 212 written warnings and 400 verbal warnings. Miss Willie Mae Wallace visited Houston over Christmas to January 2 returning January 4.

Joe White of Meridian Bosque County longtime School Superintendent for 21 years died at 3 40 o clock Tuesday morning January 7 in Meridian hospital He was 53 years 6 months and 15 days old Born in Fairview Bosque County on June 23 1912 White taught at Garnersville Coyote and Smith Bend then became County School Superintendent in 1942 moving to Meridian in 1943 He held many community roles and earned degrees from Texas Wesleyan Baylor University He served in World War II and remained active in church school and civic groups

Dansby Jr. Dies Suddenly in Clifton at 47
C. E. Dansby Jr., 47, of 402 North Avenue K Clifton, died of a heart attack while working on Highway 6 road construction between Clifton and Meridian. He left home before 7 and died around 8 at a local hospital after his water truck stopped on an embankment. He was born February 19 1916 at Valley Mills, son of C. E. Dansby and Amy Whitley Dansby, survived by wife Evesta Kelly Dansby and twin sons Donald and Ronald. He had lived and farmed in various Texas communities including Mosheim and Valley Mills before establishing a family farm near Valley Mills.

Bosque County Deer Kill Reaches About 1700 In 1963 Season
Game Warden Bob Rhody reports Bosque County deer season ended December 31 with a strong hunt and an estimated 1700 deer killed, about 40 percent antlerless. He notes more hunters than last year and urges return of doe permits by February 1 1964 and shooting preserve books by May 1 1964. Duck season closed January 4 goose through January 14 quail open to January 31 in both counties. He praises no accidents and urges caution for a safe finish.

Bosque County FHA supervisor Robert A. Wells says applications are open for emergency loans to cover feed and crop costs for farmers and stockmen. Loans aid those unable to obtain private credit and are repayable within a year from crop and livestock sales, with eligibility certified by the local FHA committee of Williamson, Hoel Jr., and Wirz.
