Fire at Dr. Joe Little’s office at 103 S Avenue H in Clifton caused considerable damage. Firefighters led by Chief George Harris brought the blaze under control. cause is undetermined.
Funeral services for Mrs Louis Cass of Mosheim are set for 10 a.m. Friday January 6 at the Mosheim Baptist Church. Mrs Cass who died Tuesday January 3 at about 4 30 p m was a member of the Clifton Sunset Home in Clifton.
Bosque County Tax Assessor Earl Behringer asks residents to secure voter registration certificates by January 31 1967 the deadline for registration no longer tied to poll tax. Registration available at the county office banks and by mail with required personal details.
Bosque County Savings Bonds sales in November reach 14427 dollars bringing total county sales to 131803 dollars, 82 percent of the 1966 goal. State and national figures show gains with Texas at 139381146 for January–November and national November sales at 368 million, the strongest November in 11 years.

Mrs Robert L Baldridge Sr and family attended funeral services for Sam Fore Jr longtime Floresville Chronicle Journal publisher at the First Methodist Church in Floresville. Fore and Baldridge were longtime Texas press leaders and friends. Attending included President and Mrs Lyndon B Johnson and Governor and Mrs John Connally.
Congressman Bob Poage spoke at a December 29 appreciation dinner at Meridan High School gym sponsored by the Bosque County Farmers Union. He urged farmers and ranchers to be adequately compensated to keep food affordable, noting India's agricultural issues and the need for a profitable U.S. farming sector. Attendees included 350 locals and visitors from ten Central Texas counties plus dairy interests from Texas Arkansas and Oklahoma.
The Clifton Junior High Tournament begins Monday January 9 with Cranfills Gap Valley Mills girls and boys in first round at 3 and 4 pm. Clifton Crawford girls and boys follow at 7 and 8 pm. Subsequent rounds run Tuesday and Thursday with Kasea Glen Rose China Spring Whitney teams entering. Consolation finals Saturday at 5 pm and championship games at 7 and 8 pm.
Dan Amundson of Clifton has been moved from Clifton hospital to McClosky Hospital in Temple per Mrs. Dan Amundson’s report. He is listed in Medical Ward 17A and is reported to be improving satisfactorily.
At a November 21 1966 meeting the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home Corpora tion delegates approved a plan to construct a 60 65 bed extended nursing care facility. A $133 000 local liquid asset portion is sought as part of a Hill Burton grant backed campaign, with a total project cost of $800 000. The Sunrise Home plans a four month local fund drive among 28 churches and community groups to support the expansion.
A special service marks the 100th anniversary of the first Lutheran service in Bosque County at Our Savior's Lutheran Church Norse. Activities include bilingual songs talks and greetings followed by refreshments and a cemetery visit. A three to four site tour includes the Carl Questad Jens Ringness and Oscar Omenson properties. Public invited.
Clifton's Chief of Police Eldon J. Forbess issued three citations. One for failure to control a vehicle one for disregarding a stop sign causing an accident and one for speeding. The notice lists the citations in a police patrol context.
