British Guiana Native To Speak Sunday Morning at Trinity Lutheran Church
Krishna Pernaud a native of British Guiana and student at Texas Lutheran College Seguin will speak Sunday morning February 28 at Trinity Lutheran Church Clifton. The Rev Erwin Knitt announced the guest speaker for the 8 30 and 11 o clock services. Pernaud left his Hindu faith behind in Britain Guiana to study abroad and will share his Christian faith journey and experiences in the United States. He plans to return home after seminary studies to pastor his homeland. Visitors are welcome at both services.

Mrs Upshaw aged 74 of Millsap died February 19 after a massive stroke on February 16. Born in Parker County she was a longtime Millsap resident and member of the Millsap Methodist Church. Surviving: husband of Millsap. one son Dr FG Upshaw of Aledo. two daughters Mrs MA Doms of Port Worth and Mrs Joe Little of Clifton. seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Funeral held at 3:00 pm at Newberry Danister with Clifton visitors among mourners.

By Wednesday morning two residents filed for the two vacancies on the Clifton Independent School District Board of Trustees with elections set for Saturday April 3. Four local men filed for the Clifton City Council mayor and two council seats in the April 6 election. Incumbent Dr S L Witcher and J W Blewett Jr seek re election to three year terms on the school board. A J Booby Nelson filed for mayor with a two year term while James Corpier John Outlaw and Gerald Rice filed for the two council seats. Current mayor E V Stevens and councilmen Homer McDougal Calvert G Helms face term expirations and have not yet announced for re election.

Ras Gaston Dies Two Weeks After 95th Birthday
Ras Gaston a prominent Bosque County rancher near Cranfills Gap died at 98 years old in Clifton hospital after a birthday celebration. Born February 10, 1870 near Cranfills Gap he lived as a rancher all his adult life. He married Elizabeth Ellington and celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in January. He is survived by 12 children four sons and eight daughters. He attended Cranville Gap Methodist Church, enjoyed family gatherings and dominoes, and was known for his humor.

Funeral rites for Mrs. Pearl Snider Rushing 84 of Walnut Springs were held at 2 PM Saturday at Walnut Springs Methodist Church. She died February 18 in Clifton hospital after a February 4 admission. Interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Walnut Springs. Survived by husband Jim Rushing, a brother Jim Snider, a nephew Jim Snider Jr, a niece Mrs Clyde Head, and cousins Sue Snider and others.
