Clifton Public Schools announce a week long event February 29 to March 4 inviting parents to visit classes and share lunch. To avoid cafeteria congestion, visits are scheduled by grade level each day. Parents should have lunch tickets when their children buy theirs at arrival.
James McDowell told the Clifton Lions Club he will resign at month end due to other duties. He thanked the club for over two years of cooperation as city patrolman. Fort Worth visitors were delayed by weather. March 8 program includes State Senator Crawford Martin and District Governor Kelly of Athens. Minstrel arrangements progress, with a printed program in the works. Galveston medical student James Keeley, temporary hospital trainee, attended.

Mrs. R O Rachuig, 72, resident of Clifton area, died February 22 at the local hospital after years of diabetes and related health issues. Born August 31, 1887 in Fayette County, she lived in Bosque and Archer counties before settling in Clifton in 1957 with her husband Rudolf O. Rachuig. Surviving are three sons A W Rachuig, E B Rachuig, Leonard D Rachuig. three daughters Ruby Gloff, Caroline Viertel, Mildred Hanson. four brothers Charley, Alex, Gus, Willie Ickert.
John Gerloff of DeValle returned for Clifton FFA Father Son Banquet at the high school cafeteria Monday February 22 as principal speaker. Officers and parents hosted a program awarding chapter honors to Ervin Dahl Bernard Erickson David Gouldman Marvin Wiede J. W. Thiele and Jimmy Schumacher with show winnings totaling $3968.14 and 38 members’ projects generating $14,299.51 in income.
The Cranfills Gap FFA Livestock Show will be held Thursday March 3 at the Cranfills Gap picnic grounds. A chicken barbecue lunch will be served at noon. Entries for sheep goats swine and beef cattle are due by 10:00 A M. Entries can be received at the show area. Mr and Mrs Oscar N Pederson of Kilgore visited Clifton with relatives on their way home from Midland including time with his sister Mrs M L Bergman and other Pederson family members.
Nearly all Clifton Cub Scouts and parents attended the Blue-Gold Banquet at Trinity Lutheran Church. Den 4 won the attendance cup, awards were given to Bobcats and Wolves, and Ben Gibson entertained as a magician. District and sponsoring leaders praised the unit and welcomed new flags andstreamer insignia.
Miss Lucy May Burrus outlines county 4-H contest divisions First Year Junior and Senior with eligibility rules. County eliminations are March 19 at Meridian School Cafeteria, leading to district contests in Stephenville on April 9 and state rounds in June.
Two crashes east of Clifton Sunday seriously injured occupants. A Jones and Ledberry were taken to Temple Veterans Hospital after a curve crash near the S curve between Clifton and Womack. A second collision near the Thiele Store left H A White seriously hurt. Kalitta family members had minor injuries.
Funeral services for T. E. Ralph Larson 61 7 11 were held at Our Savior's Lutheran Norse February 24. He died February 18 in a Burlingame hospital after a three year illness. He was born July 7 1898 near Clifton and lived in Norse Dallas Abilene and California before settling in Burlingame. He married Maurine Baker in 1913 and fathered one son Jean Larson. He is survived by his wife Jean and several siblings and a grandson Jan Harris Larson.
Bosque County ranchers fail to reach the 75 percent threshold required to enact the Brucellosis Program. Committee chair Earl Morrison and members B J Dahl Evans Ficklin Wylie Moffitt M S Wilkins expressed disappointment while noting progress in educating cattle owners and thanking Bosque County Agent Waymon Davis for cooperation.
Prices from Clifton Thursday show cattle at the Wednesday auction with 130 head offered due to bad weather. Slaughter steers and yearlings fetch 23 to 26.50 dollars, calves 24 to 26.50, cows 16 to 17.50, stocker cattle 23 to 26, and cows with calves 15 to 250. Hog top reaches 14.25. Poultry and grain prices also listed for eggs, milling and feed wheat, oats, barley, and corn.
