Clifton Lions prepare for the Cotton Picking Jubilee minstrel at Bettis Auditorium on February 25 and 26. Mrs. O R Jenson coordinates high school singers with the Lions Club chorus and a special quartet. The script, costumes, and various committees are organized with practice scheduled Tuesday night for Can-Can performers at 6 00 P M and cast at 7 00 P M.

Large Still Is Raided In County
Bosque countys resident Winton E Glass posted 2000 bond and was freed after a hearing on bootlegging charges before U S Commissioner Vernon Smith in Waco. A complaint accuses Glass of maintaining and operating a distilling apparatus without proper licensing. The raid, by Johnnie Shilling of the Texas Liquor Control Board and inspectors, found a large still and 19 gallons of whiskey on the old Billy Glass place inside Bosque County near the Bosque Somervell line, about 19 miles north of Meridian and four miles northwest of Eulogy. The case may go to a Federal grand jury next Tuesday in Waco.

Clifton Volunteer Fire Department plans a house to house canvass on Monday February 22 at about 6 00 P M to sell aerosol fire extinguishers for two dollars each. Revenue supports department facilities and the unit is pitched as useful for rural homes and businesses to slow or stop fires before the fire truck arrives.

Obituary for Mrs Meyer in Clifton Texas
Mrs. Walter J. Meyer Sr. of Clifton died February 10 after a brief illness from a cerebral hemorrhage. Funeral services were held February 11 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Stanley B Knudsen presiding. She was born June 18 1887 in Boggy encoded area and lived in Houston Jackson Mississippi Waco and Clifton.
