Omensons Restore Early Bosque Home
The Omenson ranch home in Norse community Bosque County, built after the Civil War by A. Y Reeder, gains a restored two deck front porch and patterned second story panels. Oscar Omenson has owned it 48 years with extensive improvements and antique furnishings. The elder Omenson, who arrived in 1855, helped settle the area, aided Norse settlers, and funded passage for 35 Norwegians to Bosque County. The old Norway Mills mill remains on site awaiting a new roof.

Lake Citizens Seek Justice Precinct at Lake Whitney
A petition with over a hundred signatures asked Bosque County Commissioners Court to create a Justice Precinct for the Lake Whitney area citing repeated thefts and burglaries. The court did not act Monday and has long considered better law enforcement for the Lake area, coordinating with the Sheriff’s department.

Mrs. Meyer Dies at Clifton Local Hospital
Mrs Walter J Meyer Sr of 1214 West Hackberry Clifton dies at about 4:00 am Wednesday February 10 in the local hospital after a cerebral hemorrhage. Funeral services were 3:30 pm February 11 at Trinity Lutheran Clifton with interment in Norse Cemetery. The Clifton Record will publish a full obituary next week.

Bosque County 4-H members exhibited twelve head of beef cattle at the Southwestern Exposition and Fat Stock Show in Fort Worth. The group earned an outstanding Herdsman Award and combined sales and prizes totaling $2,530.55 from twelve steers and heifers, with top placings across Shorthorn Hereford and Angus classes and individual earnings listed for each exhibitor.

Clifton High upsets Midway 44 to 42 to pull a district title tie. Jim Willenberg led Clifton with 17 points while Curtis Allen added 14 as Clifton built a 13 6 first quarter lead and held on in a thriller. Midway’s James Thompson led visitors with top scoring. Clifton and Midway both finish with one more game. The Midway girls defeated Clifton 41 to 21 to keep pace for the girls title with Glen Rose. Reverend J E Nelson and his wife were flu patients in Clifton hospital recently, and Nelson expects to preach this Sunday.
