Immanuel Lutheran Church notes midweek services Bible classes and choir practices led by Rev. R. H. Wuensche. Wednesday includes 2:00 p.m. Ladies Bible Class 7:00 p.m. Lenten Service 7:45 p.m. Senior Choir practice. Sunday offers 10:00 a.m. Sunday School Bible Class and 11:00 a.m. Divine Worship. Monday lists 4:00 p.m. Junior Choir practice.
Lent services are in progress at Our Savior's Lutheran Norse Clifton with Sunday 10 45 a m and Wednesday 7 30 p m services. Faith Lutheran Meridian also hosts services at 9 00 a m Sundays and 7 00 p m Tuesdays. Sermons include Epistle of the Day and a weekday series titled Into Thy Hands.
The Coyote Home Demonstration Club held its regular meeting on Tuesday February 8 with Mrs. Downey elected to serve as president. Members discussed future programs and planned a community service project.
Free electronic hearing tests will be conducted in Clifton at the Clifton Motel on Wednesday February 23 1972 from 10 00 a m to 12 00 Noon. Mr Robbie Robinson will conduct the tests through Beltone Hearing Aid Center based in Waco Texas to assess individual hearing loss and explain latest correction methods.
Welton Edward Mills 58 of Star Route 1 Clifton died February 1 1972 in Temple after a heart attack. Final rites were conducted February 3 1972 at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in San Augustine with Rev Glynn Jefferson officiating and burial at Old Salem Cemetery. Mills was a ranch foreman and longtime Methodist. He is survived by four sons Charlie Mills William Mills Garland Mills Eddie Mills four daughters Eileen Raines Donna Clapton Edith Mills Deborah Mills plus five grandchildren and multiple siblings. Clifton Funeral Home arranged the services.
