Hubbard won the boys district championship by beating Midway and Glen Rose, with Clifton suffering a season setback losing to Hubbard and Lorena. In girls play Midway remained unbeaten in district, Clifton tied for third with five wins and seven losses, and Clifton lost to Glen Rose 44 21 at Walnut Springs. Nihela Dossman led Clifton with 14 points. Jerri West had 16 for Glen Rose.

Otto Zuehlke Dies After Stroke in Clifton Local Hospital
Otto Daniel Zuehlke 76 9 5 of Route 1 Clifton died Friday morning in the local hospital after a stroke. Funeral services were held Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church Clifton with organist Mrs. Stanley B Knudsen and choir singing Rock Of Ages Abide With Me. Interment Clifton Memorial Park. He was born May 5 1884 in Chase community and married Frieda Thiele December 1 1910. He leaves three sons Herman Henry William all of Clifton area.

Ernest Boelter 74 Dies. Clifton Rites Held
Ernest William Boelter of Clifton died February 13 after two years ill health. Funeral services were held February 14 at the Clifton Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Rev J E Morston. Surviving: one brother W F Boelter, two sisters Ida Wessinger and Ottilie McDougal, and a half sister Lena Parrish. Pallbearers were nephews from Clifton Dallas and Waco. He never married and enjoyed music, fiddle playing, and dominoes.

Mrs. Nannie Nevels 89 of Union Church Mississippi died February 4 after a long illness. Funeral services were held February 5 at the Baptist Church in Union Church. She was born in Jefferson County Mississippi and lived there all her life, mother of Roger S. Nevels formerly of Meridian now of Plainview. Survived by 11 children 29 grandchildren 47 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.

Jones and family of New Braunfels visited relatives here over the weekend. Frank Bishop had surgery in Clifton hospital last Friday and was convalescing satisfactorily, though still a patient Wednesday afternoon.
