David Knudson and his daughter Mary of Houston visited Clifton Monday and Tuesday with his mother L A Knudson, brother in law Mr and Mrs L B Polk, and other relatives. Mrs W E Prather former Clifton resident who now lives Fort Worth mailed in her renewal to The Clifton Record. Prather long served as tax assessor collector for Clifton ISD and said the paper is a letter from home.

Clifton to Welcome Two New Businesses Early Next Year
Clifton will gain two, possibly three, new enterprises soon. C W Bill Lloyd of Waco bought a Highway 6 lot north of the John R Cowen residence and began leveling a 34 by 34 foot building to sell Pittsburgh Plate Glass products. Mrs Lloyd will handle interior decorating and custom draperies. They plan an efficiency apartment and later a larger home and more store space. Lloyds hope to open by April 1. Chester Sockwell plans a skating rink south of Bryne's Cafe and may add three bowling lanes if a suitable Clifton building is found.

Two 18 year old Waco High students Berry Burns and James Jasek launched a canoe on the Bosque near Clifton with a two day计划 to Lake Waco. After rough water forced them ashore on a ranch Sunday they spent the night and called for help Monday, later reestablishing contact from the Snider Ranch north of Waco.

Ada Huffman Dies at 89 in Archer City
Mrs. Ada Huffman aged 89 died at her Archer City home on February 4 after 35 years there. Survived by three sons Frank Bill and J B Huffman and three daughters Will Johnson T K Pierce and W T Chaney 38 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Funeral held February 7 at Church of Christ Archer City with burial in Archer City Cemetery. Frank Huffman and family attended services.

Cubs Win Two In District Play Keeping Hubbard Lead
Clifton High Cubs won two boys games to stay in second place in the district race while Hubbard remained atop. Jim Willenborg led with 23 points in a 54 42 win over Midway and 17 in a 60 42 victory over Connally. Midway girls beat Clifton 53 34, Clifton edged Connally 34 29 with Nihela Dossman 22. Hubbard beat Lorena 60 38 to stay ahead. Clifton set to play Glen Rose in the regular district finale.

City Church Census Set for Clifton February 12
The Methodist Baptist Presbyterian Lutheran and Zion United Church of Christ will jointly conduct a city wide census in Clifton on February 12. Volunteers from all churches will visit residents from mid afternoon Sunday evening. The aim is to collect accurate names and addresses within city limits.

Prices quoted Thursday morning show cattle at Clifton Wednesday auction steady with Good to choice slaughter steers and yearlings at 24 to 26.50, cows 16 to 19, bulls 17 to 19.50, stockers 23 to 26, calves 24 to 27, cows and calves 130 to 235.
