Clifton High School honored its 1962 Cubs at the Mothers Sons and Dad Football Banquet on February 7. Captain Gardiner Speaks on Driver Habits at Lions Club

Captain Sam Gardiner head of the Texas Highway Patrol in the 22 county Waco district spoke at the Clifton Lions Club meeting on February 12. He outlined that improved vehicle condition and highway improvements could cut accidents by up to 90 percent with perfect driver behavior. He noted beginners up to age 24 drive most dangerously and urged ongoing driver habit review and enforcement through tickets. The Bosque County traffic problem grows as drivers need to shed bad habits. Tarleton State College junior Curtis Allen of Clifton son of Mr and Mrs R Allen has qualified for the B honor roll for the first semester of the 1962 63 academic year. He maintains Liberal Arts studies and has completed at least 15 credit hours with BR or higher in each subject taken for credit.

At Clifton Wednesday auction about 380 cattle offered. Steers and yearlings 23 to 24.50 dollars, butcher calves 23 to 25.50, stocker steers 24 to 27, steer calves 26 to 32, cows and calves 150 to 235. Hogs top 15.60. Egg and grain prices listed for Thursday morning.

Clifton Jaycee-Ettes visited the McGregor Jaycee-Ettes at the First National Bank Building on February 4. The group admired a scrapbook entered in last year's Scrapbook Contest. Former Clifton social leader Mrs Schow dies in Austin

Mrs. P. E. Schow Sr. dies at 84 in Austin after a long illness. A Clifton civic figure for 35 years, she was cared for at home by daughters and a niece. Funeral services were held at University Methodist Church in Austin and First Methodist Church in Clifton with local ministers assisting. Interment followed in Clifton Cemetery beside her husband and son Jewel.

Leck Sinclair Station Operator Injured In Tire Explosion

Herbert Leck of Clifton was badly hurt Thursday February 7 when a tubeless tire exploded while he was airing it. His hand and wrist suffered severe injuries, with bones broken and skin torn. He received first aid locally then was taken by ambulance to Dr J R Cochran in Fort Worth for hand and arm surgery. His condition improved with healing, though elbow and thumb bones needed attention. His watch, blown off during the blast, was later found near the station and still ran.

Funeral services for Mrs Ruth Scheuber in Longview

Mr and Mrs H V Willingham attended the funeral of Mrs Ruth Scheuber in Longview last Saturday following her death earlier in the week in a Longview hospital. Services were at 10:06 A M at Radar Funeral Home with interment in Longview. Mrs Scheuber was the mother of Jim Scheuber of Irving and a daughter in law of Mr Willingham.
