Captain Gardiner Speaks on Driver Habits at Lions Club
Captain Sam Gardiner head of the Texas Highway Patrol in the 22 county Waco district spoke at the Clifton Lions Club meeting on February 12. He outlined that improved vehicle condition and highway improvements could cut accidents by up to 90 percent with perfect driver behavior. He noted beginners up to age 24 drive most dangerously and urged ongoing driver habit review and enforcement through tickets. The Bosque County traffic problem grows as drivers need to shed bad habits. Former Clifton social leader Mrs Schow dies in Austin
Mrs. P. E. Schow Sr. dies at 84 in Austin after a long illness. A Clifton civic figure for 35 years, she was cared for at home by daughters and a niece. Funeral services were held at University Methodist Church in Austin and First Methodist Church in Clifton with local ministers assisting. Interment followed in Clifton Cemetery beside her husband and son Jewel.

Leck Sinclair Station Operator Injured In Tire Explosion
Herbert Leck of Clifton was badly hurt Thursday February 7 when a tubeless tire exploded while he was airing it. His hand and wrist suffered severe injuries, with bones broken and skin torn. He received first aid locally then was taken by ambulance to Dr J R Cochran in Fort Worth for hand and arm surgery. His condition improved with healing, though elbow and thumb bones needed attention. His watch, blown off during the blast, was later found near the station and still ran.
